Oh autumn, how I love thee.

mirrorlake_autumnPhoto source here

Yeah, no. That’s not where I live.  But as the autumn season approaches, I close my eyes and pretend its like that, and I’m wearing a comfy hoodie because its chilly outside.  I’ve come to accept that I live in Texas, land of humidity, and that’s the way the cookie crumbles. :)

The weather will change {Please God let it change} and all the Fall festivities will come with it. I love when September gets here because SO many fun things are in store, such as…

  • My Birthday {Have I mentioned this yet? Hmm}
  • 10 for Texas {Bring it!}
  • Halloween {Think I’d make a good “Lil’ Red Riding Hood”}
  • 5k Morning of Thanksgiving
  • Thanksgiving Family Fun
  • Black Friday {Sissy & I get up at crack O’dawn and shop! Our fav}
  • Christmas Dress decorating {that same weekend}
  • Christmas Parties
  • Me & Hubs Gingerbread decorating tridition
  • Our FIRST Christmas {together as a married couple}
  • Then HAPPY NEW YEAR :)

So see… my Birthday {and all you September birthdays, Hi Ya’ll!} really does kick-off so many great events.

Oh and not to leave out my Sissy’s favorite thing,

Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte

Nothing shouts “FALL IS HERE” like walking into a starbucks and smelling Pumpkin Spice Lattes everywhere. Mmm! I’ll stick to drinking my tea, but if Starbucks wanted to make a candle called Pumpkin Spice Latte, I’m all over that baby!

So tell me, what do you enjoy about Autumn? What are some events coming up that you’re exciting about this fall?

Weekend Recap: Running, Weather and Changing the World

Hello Monday! How’s everybody doing?

The weekend was nice, felt very active. I love active weekends!

Friday after work, it was nice out, really nice out, like 85 degrees {plus humidity} nice out. That hasn’t happened in forever, with the crazy 100+ degree weather. So I decided to take advantage of this fluke weather and go outside for a run. Oh how I’ve missed running outside! Running on the treadmill just doesn’t cut it. It’s just not the same. :\
I used my nifty SPIbelt I got from the fabulous people in Austin, THANKS YA’LL! {they have this cute PINK camo one… its for kids, but I want it. :) }

100_5238

Good run, legs felt heavy, but I could feel a difference from running outside than in a gym on a treadmill. SO much better.

That evening Hubs and I went to dinner with my brother, sis-in-law and the kiddos, check out this crazy sky that evening… storms were rolling in…

Saturday Morning, was up early, got house work finished before I was even out the door to Wholyfit, YEA! On the way to class I saw this randomness and took a picture of it…

100_5242

That would be a black high heel shoe nicely placed on the curb… random…

Good work that morning, my mom and Marie taught. Go M&M! I worked on some things for my certification to teach wholyfit after class, final testing and certification is August 1st!!! Holy cow that’s soon!

That afternoon, Hubs and I met up with our friends Matt & Carla to go boating at Lake Conroe…

100_5244

It was all good and gravy until this happened…

100_5246It was POURING rain, thunder, lighting and all that drama… then as we were leaving to go eat it stopped and was awesomely sunny and too late to go back to the lake because it’d be dark soon. Oh well. It was still a great time with our friends! :)

Sunday… I love Sunday’s. :) Hubs and I went to church that morning, great message about Justice, Mercy & Humility. Told a story about this girls youth camp about an hour or so away, the camp is for Foster kids, girls & boys called TRAC, {read about it here}, but this particular time was just for girls. The camp directors & counselors did a “glamour party” for the young girls and the girls got to pick fancy dresses that were donated to them and got to keep the dress of their choice, got all hair & make-up’d and felt like princesses at this party. One of the young girls stood up, with tears in her eyes thanked the director of the camp and said “you’ve made me feel special and have changed my life”.  I was choking back tears as I heard this. How amazing that the efforts of people to make someone feel special and important, can make such a huge impact on someone’s life. I believe that each one of those girls is going to remember that time and know that they are special and important.  Our pastor said this quote “Small things, done with great love, can change the world.” It’s been rolling around in my head since I heard it. So good. Also made me think of Caitlin who created Operation Beautiful. Click over here and check it out.

Sunday evening, my darling Husband and I went to the gym, great workout. I love that he likes to go to the gym and workout with me. He’s an amazing man! :)

Got get the day going!

So tell me, is there any organization, charity, etc. that you’re involved in or want to get involved in? What do you do to donate your time/talent/money, etc?

It’s too Hot…

Ya’ll, I’m melting. It’s so dang hot here in H-Town.

100+ degrees for the past two days and no rain or cooler weather in sight. Sheesh.

I’m not one to complain. Ahem. But I need a get away vacation or something from this madness. Anyway else out there burning up?

On a different note, our friends Greg and Melissa came over the other day for dinner and movie. The amazing Chef Greg cooked homemade pizza…

Putting the pizza in the oven…100_4748

and then my piece….

100_4752

The pizza was amazing! Thanks Greg & Mel! :)

Wednesday Morning, I met up with my friend Rachel, {no pictures. Bad La.} we went for a 5-Miler Run/Walk and then breakfast at La Madeleine. Definitely a great way to end the workout. It was great, super dang hot, but great. Working out with a friend sure makes the time pass by quickly. I love it!

So now I’m headed back into the coolest room in the house, which is completely dark because we don’t want no stinkin’ sunlight to get in and I’ll drink my iced cold water {which I never drink ice cold water.. goodness} and try not to melt away. :)

So tell me, do like working out alone or with a friend? and why?

I can tell you this, by the end of Sunday, I was SO tired, I think I crashed about 10:00pm.

And with this morning being rushed, I’m finally getting a chance to blog and then go workout, the weather is AMAZING here, did I wake up in the wrong city? It’s so random. I LOVE IT!

So tell me, what did you do this weekend? If there was one thing you could do every weekend, what would it be?
