Favorite Summer Products {Guest Post}

I’m off to Kentucky, it’s almost Derby time! Feels like I’ve been talking about it forever and it’s finally *almost* here.  I have several awesome guest posts lined up for you this week from some amazing ladies! First up is Tara from Dashing in Pearls (love that name!)

Since the weather here in South Texas is officially HOT, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite summer products!
1. Ocean Potion Suncare Aloe After Sun Lotion

This stuff is awesome and smells very summery without an overwhelming aloe scent. It is meant to repair and replenish skin cells after exposure to the sun and all other outdoor elements. The unique formula helps keep skin soft and healthy and helps to prevent peeling and maintain your tan weeks longer with regular use.
2. Avon Be Blushed Cheek Color in Powder Pink

I love how light this blush is but leaves a dewy finish. It’s really simple to layer more on for a heavier look.
3. Mission Skincare Rejuvenating Face Moisturizer Lotion with SPF 30

I am a huge believer that it is important to have SPF in your make up routine year round but even more so in the summer! This lotion isn’t think at all but does a great job keeping me protected no matter what I’m doing!
4. Camelbak .75L BPA Free Water Bottle

I have one in pink and one in blue and am permanently attached to one of them during the summer. I love these because I can fill them with anything I like, water, tea, lemonade, iced coffee, sangria and they never spill!
5. Ralph Lauren Aviator Sunglasses

I own this pair and they’re my favorite but any oversized sunglasses will do! You want to look fashionable and protect your eyes at the same time and these are fabulous!

6. Kevin Murphy Hair Resort

With the insane humidity that comes with living in Houston, I love this product. I can get out of the shower, throw a little in my hair, scrunch, and go. It smells amazing, too!


7. OPI Nail Color in Guy Meets Gal-veston

I’m a pink nail polish kind of girl and this one has to be one of my favorites.


8. Bakers Knotted Sandals in Silver

I tend to find a favorite sandal and stick with it for most of the summer. This year I’ve fallen for these cuties. They’re pretty comfortable and since I wear mainly silver jewelry they go with almost everything!


9. Maybelline Voumn’ Express The Falsises Washable Mascara

I’m don’t like heavy make up over the summer but this is a staple in my make up bag! It doesn’t take much to go a long way and even stays on when I lay out!


10. Easy summer dresses

Right now I have my eye on this one from Anthropologie but really I love any light dress that’s easy to throw on!

These are just a few of my favorite products but let’s be real, I could definitely post a lot more!

I’ve gotten a few questions lately asking what certain products do I like. I thought I’d do a few posts with products that I would Get and ones that I’d Pass on.

Let’s start with chips! Who doesn’t like chips? Well these chips are definitely ones I think you should Get:

Food Should Taste Good Multigrain Chips.


I’ve tried almost all of Food Should Taste Good‘s chips and I’ve liked all of them. My husband and I love when these bad boys go on sale or have a coupon out and we stock up!

What I like about these is:

Not greasy

Packed with flavor

Ingredients I can pronounce

They taste amazing! Perfect with a sandwich or burger

 

Something I think you should Pass:

Quaker True Delights Multigrain Fiber Crisps – Wild Blueberry.

Just plan yucky. Honestly the taste was just awkward. I tried to like these, I really did. I hoped it’d be good because the packaging had everything I wanted. Multigrain’s, blueberry, fiber, baked goodness. Blah, Blah, Blah. Totally a bomb. I couldn’t even finish the bag after months of trying and they ended up in the trash. Sad, but true story ya’ll.

 

QUESTION for the day: Do you like Chips or Crackers better? or do you like the combo of both?

The other day I received a spiffy package in the mail…

Navitas Naturals sent me a few products to try out:

I decided to to finally make the bran muffins I had…

I started with the dry ingredients…

I added two tablespoons of the Cacao Sweet Nips, one tablespoon of flaxseed, the mixture and some butter. Then the wet ingredients…

and blend…

filled into the mini muffin pans…

and then baked for 10-15 minutes on 350 degrees…

and viola! Mini-Muffins!

Really tasty, the cacao nips give it the perfect little sweet bite. :)

Now that its getting a bit warmer out, I’ll have to start marking smoothies and try all those recipes!

which is great, because you know you’re going to have the perfect fit! {note in this picture I hadn’t cut mine yet}.

I haven’t had a chance to take this baby out for a spin since I missed our run on Saturday, so I’ll have to give you a better review soon.
