No Dining Out Month *update*

The beginning of January I posted how Hubs and I decided for the whole month of January we wouldn’t go out to eat, with a few {mostly already planned} exceptions.

Well.. we’ve been making it happen! :) The first week it was a little hard, this was often heard in our house…

So wanna go out to eat?“… “no, we’re eating at home“… “aww man

But we’ve managed to get through the month and have found that we love eating at home.

Hubs has been cooking almost all of his meals, not because I won’t cook them, but because he really likes to cook. He gets in the kitchen and creates fun new meals for himself. More of that to come later.

I’ve tried several foods that I’ve never cooked for myself before… Acorn Squash and Polenta, just to name a couple.

The thing I like about staying home, you really can control what goes into your food as well as your portions. You also can have left overs for the week. I love left overs. :) I made a big bowl of verde salsa {YUM!} and we had that one week. I’d put the verde salsa on wraps, it was so super good!

Tomorrow I’m going to do a post of what I eat during a day. I figured I could easily write everything out in text {boring}, or I could take pictures of everything to give you a visual {exciting!}. :) So be sure to check that out tomorrow!

Have you been eating in more this month? Have you tried new foods lately?

What Was I Going To Say?

Here’s what happens… I’ll be driving along or cleaning the house or even working out… and I get this great idea for a blog post and I’m thinking “YES! I have to write that up…

Then life happens. I get busy, sidetracked and then..

Have NO clue what I was going to blog about.

Does that ever happen to you? {please say yes…}

Its driving me crazy. It’ll be awesome ideas and things that I want to share with you and then boom! Nothing. Empty mind. Empty blog.

So question… bloggers… writers… list keepers… smart people…

What do you do to remember things that you wanted to  do? What are some simple ways that help you keep your ducks in a row?

Also… What would you like to see from me? Do you have questions that you want me to answer and post about {A friend asked me to post what I eat daily.. thats coming, promise Rach}, and I promise Turtle Clubbers I haven’t forgotten about you! What do you want to see on Team Giles? Ready, Set, Go!

Goals for 2010

I’m not too big into “New Year’s Resolutions”… I think often people don’t follow-through with resolutions. Here’s what I found on Wikipedia

Recent research shows that while 52% of participants in a resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals. Men achieved their goal 22% more often when they engaged in goal setting, a system where small measurable goals are used (lose a pound a week, instead of saying “lose weight”), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public and got support from their friends”

Doesn’t sound too good does it? Only 12% huh? So we’re going to call them GOALS. I do believe making your goals public. :)

What are your goals for 2010?

Here’s some of the most popular goals in America:

In the United States, popular goals include:

  • Lose weight
  • Get out of debt
  • Become more organized
  • Maintain a diary
  • Save money
  • Improve grades
  • Get a better job
  • Get fit
  • Eat right
  • Get a better education
  • Drink less alcohol
  • Quit smoking
  • Reduce stress
  • Take a trip
  • Volunteer to help others
  • Be less grumpy
  • Be more independent
  • Learn something new (such as a foreign language or music)
  • Try to get up early in the morning
  • Time management
  • Help the poor

All good goals don’t you think? Amazing how 6 of those are health/fitness related. Seems to be something on everyone’s mind huh?

I think I’ve done good at keeping up with my everyday goals, workin’ on my fitness and eating healthy. Two of my fitness goals in 2010 is to do the Rock ‘n’ Rock Half-Marathon in Nashville {which we’ve signed up for} and the Women’s Nike Half-Marathon {which I cannot wait to sign up for a hopefully get picked!} Anyone else done that one?

Hubs and I want to travel more in 2010, we hope to go to Ireland, New York, Florida, and take a cruise. :) Any cruise suggestions?

And I’m pretty sure I’ve thrown “being a morning person” out the window. It’s next to impossible for me to wake up at the crack o’dawn to workout consistently… I loved that I read in Ali Vincent‘s book, that she’s not a morning person either… and she’s still got all her workouts in and is healthy. :)

So tell me, what are goals you want to accomplish and work on in 2010?

It’s all about the lists

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! So glad it’s finally here {again, yea!}

I love keeping a list. To-Do lists, grocery lists, work lists, schedule lists, lists, lists, lists!

It keeps me organized. I keep a calendar, because really, its just one big list…

In my calendar, I have everything from birthdays, parties, events to remember, even my work out days and running days with the miles I want to run.

I look at my calendar everyday just to check at whats going on for the week. It seriously keeps me sane when life gets so busy, especially right now with all the holidays coming up AND there’s so many birthdays in my family in the next 4 months, this makes it easier for me to keep up with everyones celebrations. :)

Do you keep a calendar? Are you a to-do lister?
