Good Morning! How was everyone’s weekend?

Mine went like this…

Friday after work and I got a little birthday shopping in…

IMG_0519Love this bag from Gap :)

I didn’t have much time to shop the mall {which was crazy packed} since Hubs and I were going to the Astros game that night…

Good times at the game :)

Saturday early morning, went out for a 7 mile run with lil’ sis. Great weather, great run! Getting so excited for the 10 for Texas! Its coming up soon {October 10th}.

Last week’s 6 mile run totally felt a lot harder for lil’ sis and I. I was thinking about it afterward and I really think this week was much better, because mentally I was ready for this run. I had my head in the right place and knew that these 7 miles were gonna be a piece of cake, that we were gonna rock those miles out without any thought. Now last weekend with the 6 miler, my thought processes was totally different, I was dreading every step, thinking how much my feet hurt and just didn’t have the right mindset at all. I’m convinced that running is not only physically challenging but mentally challenging as well. Just had to get my head in the game! What about you? Ever felt that way?

On the run I had some grape sports beans

IMG_0539

these were pretty tasty too, the Fruit Punch ones so far are my favorite, but the grape is a close second. :)

Then after a bunch of water I had this as a snack…

The Naked Breeze, Watermelon is delicious!!

That evening we had friends over for more birthday festivities and I made a cake {yes, I made my own birthday cake, but I like to bake}…

100_5560my big bro came to the par-tay! :)

Had a great time with friends and family!

Sunday after church we went to lunch with my family…

It’s always a circus when we’re all together :)

The rest of the day was spent with the lil’ sister at the outlet, didn’t score many deals. Waa-waa. Was looking for a fuel belt at Nike, but wasn’t too impressed with what they had. Oh hum.

But on my way home, my Honda finally hit the 100,000 mark…

IMG_0546

Aww, such a good car. I drove this baby off the lot with only 12 miles on it. Oh the places we’ve been together. xoxo :)

That evening, I got home to find a package had arrived…

IMG_0548

What is it you ask? Well…

IMG_0550

A very sweet birthday gift from The Cranky One herself! :) Bella from “Feed Me I’m Cranky“. How sweet is she!? The package included:

Thank you so much Bella, you’re so good to me! :) Totally made my night!

Weekend recap: Date Night, Running & a Movie!

Good Morning! Monday is here.  Sheesh, time flies when you’re having fun!

Let’s recap shall we…

Friday night my awesome husband brought me these…

photoGorgeous flowers for our 6 month anniversary :)

Hubs surprised me with where we went for dinner, we drove to Rice Village {about an hour or so from where we live}  and ate a place called Benjy’s described as Modern American Dining. Very tasty food, we had an appetizer…

photo (1)A veggie goat cheese dish, very good

photo (2)an amazing greens salad, that I downed before snaping a shot of its beauty. whoops! ;)

photo (3)I had a spinach, tomato & mozzerella pizza

photo (4)My honey had some kind of chicken pizza :)

photo (5)For dessert, which we weren’t going to have but some how the waitress talked Hubs into it, was an Italian gelatin dish with a side of sparkling white sorbet, the sorbet was delicious, the gelatin not so much.

After dinner a crazy lighting/thunderstorm showed up, so we stayed at Benjy’s for a bit and let it pass, we were going to go walking around in Rice Village, instead we drove around and looked at a few places and the gorgeous huge mansion house. Yum!

Such a great time with my best friend. I love him more than my simple words can express. He’s truly a gift from God.

Saturday moring’s wake up call came all to early. For those of you who may not know me well… I don’t DO mornings. I need at least a good 30-45 minutes to wake up and then we can speak to each other. I am not one of those blessed “morning person’s” that can jump out of bed and get their morning started. Sigh. Lucky people, I envy you.

So when 5:45AM came knocking on my head, I peeled myself out of bed and started to get ready and get some breakfast down me…

photo (6)Breakfast of champions!

  • Toast with PB
  • Banana Smoothie
  • Green tea and Water

Good stuff ya’ll.

My sister met me at my house and we headed out to the event. Run for the Fallen. This was really amazing to participate in. My lil’ sis and I don’t have family members in the military, but we have friends and extended family in the military and this event made us think of all of them. This run was to honor those soldiers who have died while serving our country. My friend, Sandy’s son is in the Marines and just got sent back to Afghanistan for the second time. Sandy belongs to a parent group called “Operation Lonestar”, who have had 4 soldiers in their group die. We ran 4 miles in honor of those soldiers. It was very emotional hearing the stores of these families and seeing how much all of these individual families have become so close because their children, husbands, wives, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles are serving our country. It was a very cool experience for us, we didn’t time the run, we didn’t worry about our pace or who we were passing or who was passing us. It wasn’t about that, it was about so much more and we really were glad to be apart of it….

After the run, lil’ sis and I had some breakfast, did some errands and come home completely tired. I tried so hard not to take a nap, {I just don’t do naps ya’ll} but it was just too much, I slept for a bit and hubs luckily woke me up in time for us to meet with our friends Greg and Melissa for dinner and a movie. :)

We got snow cones before hand, and “snuck” them into the theater. photo (7)Mmm coconut snowcone

We went to go see Julie & Julia, this is a movie for cooks and bloggers. No doubt. Very sweet movie, based on two true stories. Go see it :)

After the movie, hubs and I made our way to clear lake for our friend Duane’s birthday. Good times ya’ll. My friend Ashley has pictures from that night, they’re fun! Gotta get them from her! We got home about 1AM-ish and from my 5:45AA wake up call, I was exhausted! I fell asleep on the way home, another not like me thing, I was super tired!

Sunday morning we went to church {super great service} and came home, hubs napped, I blogged {no joke, I just can’t force myself to nap for the heck of it… am I weird? don’t answer that} and kept on washing laundry. Laundry is not my friend.

That evening when it kinda cooled off, we went to the highschool track to run, great workout! I am deperately waiting for this humid-hot weather to change and be able to run in cooler conditions. You have no idea how much I think about this… obessed much? Perhaps. :)

So tell me, how was your weekend? What was one highlight of your weekend?

{Delayed} Weekend/Week Recap: Parties, Dallas, Groceries, Tire & a Concert.. Phew!

I’m pretty sure I blinked and this week disappeared!

If I didn’t take pictures of {almost} everything that goes in a day, I’d totally forget what happened this past weekend…

So here we go!

Saturday morning I skipped my regularly scheduled workout of Wholyfit, to go run the track at the local high school with Hubs. We did great, it started to get hot and after about 2.5 miles, we were ready for A/C!

We had a Graduation to go to, and I loved how the rain decided to show up right before the outside graduation. Thank you Houston Weather. {blah}

100_4034I had my handy dandy mini umbrella though ;)

100_4036Happy Graduation Brett! :)

That evening was my 4 year old nephew’s birthday party at PUMP IT UP.

That place is crazy… you know those huge inflatable bouncing things? Yeah, its like that times 10… even Adults can play.

100_4048Yes… that’s my honey :)

100_4081This is what happens to Big Kids that play hard… rub burn from the slide. OUCH. Poor Hubs.

100_4070The Birthday Boy on this Throne

After Pump It Up we headed out to Mamasitas with friends and family. It’s an AWESOME Mexican food place, with a whole section just for Vegetarian options. LOVE IT.

100_4095

100_4096The Birthday Boys {for May} got surprised with Dessert and Sombreros!

Sunday was a great day at church and my sister-in-law’s mom’s house for a Memorial Day get together, SUCH GOOD FOOD… but I forgot to take pictures. :\ Bummer..

After the party, we headed out for Dallas!… Hubs had work to do up there, and I got to make a trip to Whole Foods Market, score!

100_4106

100_4105Say Hello to Mr. Sam Houston :)

100_4107Dallas at night going 80 MPH… don’t worry, I wasn’t driving :)

We got in late that Sunday night, I totally crashed and hubs started working…

The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel, tasty eggs and potato deluxe {free} breakfast.

I was so proud of myself in Dallas, I NEVER drive around cities when we’re visiting, I know Houston and that’s IT. But since Hubs would be working all day long and I really wanted to hit up Whole Foods, since it was only 10 minutes away… I braved the unknown roads.

Found a Starbucks…

100_4141

a quiet little table, just me, tea and my calendar…  the calendar that I normally write down every upcoming event in, but since “I Do” I’ve been busy-city and have forgotten… so… sorry if I missed your birthday or something.. :\

After my little stop at Starbucks, I ventured off to Whole Foods…

and found this aisle, that I pretty much jumped up and down over…

100_4145Hello yummy bars!

Hubs and I did have lunch at Whole Foods, have you ever eaten there? It’s AMAZING, no joke.

100_4137

My honey LOVES it, they have so much to choose from and everything taste so fresh and delicious!

100_4135

I had this awesome Salad, and look at me, I tried their Tofu, and loved it!

100_4138

I bought a lot of goodies that I normally can’t get at my local grocery store…

100_4160

this was taken at home of course, I’m not crazy, I didn’t lay my stuff out at the store. ;)

100_4161got this for hubs to try, I’ll let you know what he thinks, they had Almond Butter packs too :)

100_4163

100_4164and of course Z BARS! These are Blueberry, Peanut Butter & Apple Cinnamon, I’ve never see them before else where…

So after the grocery trip and Hubs finished up his work, we packed up and got ready to head home… just as we were barely out of Dallas… just barely… we got a FLAT TIRE. {and I don’t mean the drink…}

Oh yeah, it was totally nutso. At least were weren’t in no-mans-land.

We quickly found a Gas Station, and thank you Lord for “FIX-A-FLAT”.

100_4153Sheesh.

Gotta love the iPhone, because we found a Wal-Mart Tire and Lube, all other places like Discount Tire, Good Year, etc were closed because it was a Holiday {remember, we’re still talking about just Monday here…}

The kind people at Wal-Mart Tire and Lube said they’d have it fixed in 30 minutes…

2 hours later we were headed back on the road.

:| <— this was the look on my face.

After many songs, podcasts, way too many icky potties… We finally arrived home from Dallas at 11:30-ish. Good Times ya’ll.

Tuesday, was a pretty normal day, just insert a lot of yawning and blinking. :)

We went to a concert that evening with our friends Greg and Melissa..

100_4170

100_4168 They’re such a fun couple!

100_4171I love this man :)

Good concert, good friends, good times. Love it!

Wednesday seriously flew by, I keep telling people today is Wednesday, {it’s Thursday right?}…

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for Good Deals Friday {seems like that sound be in two days, not TOMORROW!?}

And I’m super pumped, the Astros Race for the Pennant 5k is SATURDAY!! Can’t wait ya’ll :)

So tell me, what did ya’ll do this weekend/week? I feel so behind!.. and have you ever shopped at Whole Foods Market, or is there any other favorite “healthy” grocery store you like {e.g. Trader Joes, Central Market, etc}?

P.S. The lovely Annabel from Feed me I’m Cranky, gave me a seriously FUN blogger award:
