Goals for 2011

Its a fresh new year and time to create as well as look back on your goals. I was looking back on this posts from the beginning of 2010 of the goals I had set out to accomplish

  • Two of my running goals for 2010:

Run the Rock ‘n Roll Half-Marathon in NashvilleDONE!

Run the Nike Women’s Half-Marathon in San FranDONE!

We wanted to travel more, and we did just that.

So I’ve been thinking for the past few days of what goals I want to accomplish in 2011…

and I’m not quite sure yet. Always my number one goal was to lose weight, and I’ve accomplished that. :) I guess you could say my new goal is to maintain my weight loss.

I want to continue to try new workouts, like my new favorite workout: ZUMBA!
There’s also a Boot Camp fitness class that I want to try, it starts January 10th. We’ll see how that goes.

I’ll continue to evaluate what I want to accomplish but for now, that’s all I’ve got… :)

What are some of your goals for 2011? Do you have big goals or small goals… or both?

Setting a goal, and sticking to it.

Thank you all so much for the sweet comments on yesterdays post regarding little Taxi. She is doing better today. Yesterday evening I took her on a short walk and she did very well. She’s starting to slowly feel better. :)

July of last year, I wrote a post, that was oh-so scary for me. I showed you my “before” pictures. Back in the day when health and fitness was the last thing on my mind. I’ve since changed ill ways and have become a healthier happier Lauren.

But still… there’s those last stubborn pounds that haven’t been wanting to let go. This past December I fell back on the sugar train and had to get my head together and get rid of junk food in my life.

The other day I told all of you twitter peeps that I’ve set a goal, which goes with the goals I set for 2010, however December set me back. So we’re getting back to that goal, which is to lose 30 pounds by October 17th, 2010.

What’s so special about October 17th you ask? Well, its the day of the Nike Women’s Half-Marathon!

And I’m running it. Can.not.wait! Who else is doing the half or full??

A few twitter friends said I didn’t have 30 to lose, and for that *HUGS*HUGS*HUGS* But the truth is, I do. I’m a tall girl, 5’10″. I carry weight well {ha!}, but I do have it to lose. Already in about 5 weeks I’ve dropped 15 lbs.

I’m tracking all incoming and outgoing calories. I’m making wise choices in what I eat and when I eat it. Good bye late night snacking! Hello better portions.

I’m also happy to have Hubs on the healthy train. He’s lost 14+ pounds already. I’m excited to share this journey with you…

What goals have you made for yourself lately?

Goals for 2010

I’m not too big into “New Year’s Resolutions”… I think often people don’t follow-through with resolutions. Here’s what I found on Wikipedia

Recent research shows that while 52% of participants in a resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals. Men achieved their goal 22% more often when they engaged in goal setting, a system where small measurable goals are used (lose a pound a week, instead of saying “lose weight”), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public and got support from their friends”

Doesn’t sound too good does it? Only 12% huh? So we’re going to call them GOALS. I do believe making your goals public. :)

What are your goals for 2010?

Here’s some of the most popular goals in America:

In the United States, popular goals include:

  • Lose weight
  • Get out of debt
  • Become more organized
  • Maintain a diary
  • Save money
  • Improve grades
  • Get a better job
  • Get fit
  • Eat right
  • Get a better education
  • Drink less alcohol
  • Quit smoking
  • Reduce stress
  • Take a trip
  • Volunteer to help others
  • Be less grumpy
  • Be more independent
  • Learn something new (such as a foreign language or music)
  • Try to get up early in the morning
  • Time management
  • Help the poor

All good goals don’t you think? Amazing how 6 of those are health/fitness related. Seems to be something on everyone’s mind huh?

I think I’ve done good at keeping up with my everyday goals, workin’ on my fitness and eating healthy. Two of my fitness goals in 2010 is to do the Rock ‘n’ Rock Half-Marathon in Nashville {which we’ve signed up for} and the Women’s Nike Half-Marathon {which I cannot wait to sign up for a hopefully get picked!} Anyone else done that one?

Hubs and I want to travel more in 2010, we hope to go to Ireland, New York, Florida, and take a cruise. :) Any cruise suggestions?

And I’m pretty sure I’ve thrown “being a morning person” out the window. It’s next to impossible for me to wake up at the crack o’dawn to workout consistently… I loved that I read in Ali Vincent‘s book, that she’s not a morning person either… and she’s still got all her workouts in and is healthy. :)

So tell me, what are goals you want to accomplish and work on in 2010?

Be a Finisher!

“I’m going to start Monday…

I don’t have time today…

I’m just tired…

If only I had ______ then

I could finish what I started”

Ever heard yourself say things like that?

Gosh, I know I have. I don’t want to start something and not finish it. I want to be a finisher. In everything I do.

goal-sm

So with that, here are some fitness/healthy goals I want to accomplish in the weeks, months, years to come…

  • Lose these last 15 pounds {be gone, I say!}
  • Learn/try more Vegan recipes
  • Run 10-miles {The race is October 10th. Bananas, I tell you}
  • Run a half-marathon {2010 goal}
  • Run a full marathon {huge goal}
  • Do the MS 150 with Hubs

I could keep going, but my head’s starting to spin, so I’m going to leave it at that. But these are things I want to accomplish in my life. I want to finish them, not just start them and a few months down the road forget them.  So I’m going to print this list out and put it on an area I’ll see every day… that would be the refrigerator. haha :)

So tell me, what are your fitness/healthy goals?
