Blogger Lunch at Hobbit Cafe

Saturday I met up with Kim, Melissa and That Pink Girl for lunch at the Hobbit Cafe in Houston. This was the first time getting to meet Pink Girl, so I was really looking forward to it. We’ve been blogging buddies for a long time now, so it was a real treat to get to meet in “real life”. :) She’s was in town for the Houston Marathon. Perfect excuse to grab lunch, right? She sounds just as sweet as she writes on her blog, and we both discovered we drive the same car, but a different color, instant BFF’s! ;)

The food was fabulous, very Vegetarian friendly {ya’ll knew I was a vegetarian right?… a post on that coming soon}, thanks to Kim for thinking of us veggies when picking the restaurant!

The food tasted great, but of course the company was even better…

You know you’re hanging out with bloggers, when cameras are around ;)

It was such a great time talking about blogging, running and life in general. These are a fantastic group of ladies and I’m so glad to be their friends.

I’m also quite proud of my Pink friend who ran the Houston Marathon this weekend!!

A, you did it! You’re so inspiring!! Proud of ya girl!

I think we all came to the conclusion that a girls date definitely needs to be a reoccurring event. ;)

Have you ever had a “blogger” meet-up? How was it meeting someone new for the first time?

Weekend recap: Melting in Texas

This weekend flew by!

Saturday morning, my barky McBarkerson dog decided to wake up at 4:00AM. I got her out to potty and then we came back to bed, since 4am is just wrong to be awake at. With that, I ended up sleeping way later than intended. But still wanted to get a run.

So about 8:30am, I set out for my run at the park…

and around 9:30am… I ended my 3 mile run.

its too hot to smile. Humidity, 90 bazillion degrees!

blah.

Who’s ready for Autumn?

The rest of the day was spent doing things around the house and Hubs doing lawn work.

Sunday after church Hubs and I went to our favorite salad and sandwich bar…

Just love Hubbell & Hudson. It’s so classy. :)

Later that afternoon, I met up with Melissa, Kim & Rachel for a starbucks date…

Rachel, Me, Melissa & Kim

We talked running, races, life, love and words we can’t pronounce correctly. It was great! Love these girls.

So how was your weekend? Did you have to endure the heat?

A Very Chilly 5K

Today Melissa, Kim and I ran the Houston Rockets 5K.

It was a very CHILLY morning. Us Texas girls here freezing! I tweeted this, this morning:

That’s stinkin’ COLD.

Gettin’ ready to go…

Once we got moving I warmed up pretty quickly, which was nice. My toes however, never warmed up, they felt like they were ice cubes!

The finish line was pretty cool, you finished on the basketball court…

This race was Kim’s first 5K and a PR for Melissa and… FOR ME TOO!!!! I don’t have my “official” time, but the clock & my watch said 43:23, which my last fastest 5K was 44:15, so I AM happy! and I did that on a jacked up ankle/foot, which if you follow me on twitter, you read about my woes this past week. But the ankle is feeling great today. I started to hurt a little bit around mile 2, but nothing bad. I feel great right now. :)

Right after we finished the race…

This was a very fun race, even though it was bitter cold, it was still fun. My ONLY compliant (besides the weather) was right when you finished the race, there was NO WATER, you had to go up the stairs and OUTSIDE to the after party and even then, it took us what seemed like forever to find water. Very annoying when you’re super thirsty. Other than that, it was a fun race and I’d definitely do it again.

***UPDATE: I got the officially chip time and I finished the race in 41:33!!!!! That’s my fastest EVER! *happy dance*

Who else went running this weekend?

A girl’s run

So! My friend Melissa and Kim said they were going to run the Rockets 5k and asked me the other day if I was going to sign up for it too. OF COURSE! I wouldn’t miss a chance to do a 5K with these awesome ladies.

I’m excited, this will be the first race of the year for me, and I’m super excited to run it with Melissa and Kim.

Nashville Half-Marathon training begins officially February 1st. So this will be a fun kick-off for me. Hubs couldn’t make this one, but we have a couple other races planned before Nashville, I’ll post about those later.

Anyone have any races scheduled for January/February?

Happy Friday Ya’ll!!
