How to Grow a Garden

I’m not a gardener. I was not blessed with a green thumb. I once killed an Aloe Vera plant. Now that’s just sad, ya’ll. But I do love plants, I love gardens, I love flowers, I love how all of it looks. BUT. I don’t enjoy putting the effort into having a beautiful yard and garden. I don’t like to get my hands dirty. Yes, I’m that kind of girly-girl.

Instead of just admiring the beautiful gardens of everyone else this Spring/Summer. I decided to quit being a pansy and get out there and create my own. Nothing comes to those who watch life happen around them. You have to put in the hard work. You have to get out there and make things happen. I made this happen…

That’s turned into this…

As I was outside in the ridiculous 100 degree weather (we’re having here), elbows deep in the dirt, grumbling to myself how much I hated these stupid weeds that wanted to ruin my garden, I realized something. When I wanted to start losing weight, it was hard. I was working to create a new lifestyle for myself that I had no idea how to do. I had a few ideas of how it was done, but through trial and error, I worked my booty off to lose the weight. All the hard work, frustrations, little victories, everything, was all worth it. As I looked at this pretty little garden and all the evil weeds I just destroyed, I was reassured that with hard work and staying consistent, I knew this garden would be beautiful. So my one advice to growing a garden isn’t a list of what to do, because really… I’m still figuring that out a long the way. But what I can tell you is put in the hard work, be consistent and you will see results! No matter what your task is. :)

Now, I must tell you about a fun little ditty. I so wish all of you lived near me. I’m having a Fashion {Swap} Party this week and it’s going to be amazing fun! There are also going to be some great vendors there, one I want to mention is….

‘What I Wore’ Wednesday

Remember how I was trying to pick out a new book to read? Well I found this at Target with a 30% off tag {gosh, I love Target} the other day and picked up this…

Isn’t she adorable?… and I really like her name. ;)

So far, its a fun read. LC talks about having “basics” in your wardrobe and how to organize your closet properly in order to easily shop your closet when getting ready for the day. Love that!

Now, I’m not a fashion blogger, nor do I claim to have any fashion sense what-so-ever. But I do like putting together outfits that I like on me and taking pictures of said outfit and uploading them to Instagram. I’m obsessed with Instagram on the iPhone. Have an iPhone? Download Instagram.

It. Will. Change. Your. Life. Ok maybe not, but still. I L-O-V-E it.

Obviously, my CHI (hair straightener) and I were friends last week. ;)

  • Top Right: Target dress with NY&Co belt

  • Bottom Right: Charlotte Russe top with William Rast Skinny Jeans

I like to bargain shop. 99% of the time I buy something its on sale. I almost never pay full price. I mean, they’re gonna mark it down eventually! Who’s with me?

I don’t know about you, but I live in workout clothes. Seriously. And while I love being in workout clothes, {they’re comfortable after all} its fun to put together outfits and get all doll’d up. I’ve kind of made this a challenge to myself to actually get dressed in regular clothes and not just workout clothes all day. Do you do that too? Live in workout clothes?

Fun idea coming in my head right now!! Take a picture of what you’re wearing today and send it my way! I’d love to see what fun outfits you’ve put together!! I’ll post your picture here, be sure to tell me where your outfit is from.

Help Me Find A Book To Read

I’m craving a new book…books really. I want a couple new ones to read. I went through Amazon.com the other day and created a wish-list of all the books I’d like to read. Help me pick which two I should get next!

So whatcha think? Have you ever read any of the above? Thoughts? Recommendations?

And yes, I know what you’re thinking “Um, Lauren… where’s that Kentucky Derby recap?? Hellooooo waiting!” It IS coming… I’m waiting to get a few pictures from the event that I didn’t take with my camera. :) Then I’ll recap the whole glorious thing!

Happy Friday my friends!

***Happy Birthday to my sweet nephew Landon!! Can’t wait till his 6th birthday party! Woo!!**

I need more Chobani Greek Yogurt

Yesterday I finished teaching my second bootcamp class. We did a killer good outside workout. We have to take advantage of this gorgeous spring weather we’re having. Blue skies, light wind, 70-something degrees just doesn’t last long in Hot Humid Houston. Yes, that is our “official” name. :)

Remember when I got that awesome package of Chobani greek yogurt? Well I finished the last bit of the yogurt and I’m hooked ya’ll.

When I first started to try Chobani, I played it safe and started with the typical “strawberry“, “blueberry” flavors… but as the week went on, I finally got brave and ventured out into the unknown. I tried the pineapple first… OH. EM. GEE.

Like, for real. It was like I was scooping bits of heavenly clouds out of the sky and eating them. Ya know if thats what heavenly clouds of the sky would taste like. Then came Lemon. I should have known that the lemon greek yogurt would royally sweep me off my feet, because I love lemon anything. I like that tart sweet blend. In the picture above you can see that I pared the lemon yogurt with some strawberries. It was delightful!

I really was skeptical trying Chobani. I’ve had some nasty greek yogurt before and didn’t care to venture out from my normal beloved greek yogurt. So I’m glad I got to try Chobani. I can honestly say there wasn’t one flavor I didn’t like. I liked them all! Now I’ve got to hunt these babies down in my local grocery stores! I’m craving some greek yogurt!!

In December, I downloaded an app for my iphone that seriously is one of the coolest apps I’ve ever gotten. Instagram. I had this idea that starting in January, I would take a picture of “What I wore” daily and upload it to Instagram and at the end of the year I’d have 365 pictures of outfits from my closet. I thought it was a pretty chicy cool idea.

Of course these aren’t all the pictures, and yes I’ve totally forgotten all together on some days to take a picture, which stinks, especially when it was a cute outfit I wanted to remember. Some of you may think this is dumb, but hey, I’m a girly girl. I like fashion and pretending to be a Barbie. :)

Personally, I think everyone should take a picture of their outfits daily. We could share our fashion tips. ;)

Gotta run loves, Zumba is calling my name!!

QUESTION: If you could live anywhere in the United States of America, where would you live and why?
