Healthy Choices Made Easy

Hi Friends! I have a few things I wanted to  share today that can help remind you to make healthy choices…

Comparing calories can help you reach for the healthier things in life…

Snacking on low calorie foods leaves room in your calorie bank for that fancy date night dinner…

Changing your eating habits doesn’t have to be this huge overnight drastic change. Take baby steps, learn to swap out the processed foods for the fresh foods, kick the soda habit and learn to love water. Changing your habits doesn’t have to be a huge dramatic ordeal in less you make it into one. You get to decide when being healthy is important to you.

Exercise is not an excuse to binge

Remember the other day when I needed a do-over? Poor Taxi needed one too the other morning…

Poor little pup, got her head stuck in a tissue box. I came to the rescue, but of course had to take a picture first. ;)

So, have you ever exercised and then later went to eat something and had extra of whatever you’re eating and said “I earned it, I worked out today.

Yep, been there, done that.

The thing is, just because you worked out doesn’t equal a free pass to binge. You could in a matter of minutes cancel out every bit good you just did for yourself while working out.

I think it can be hard to remember that sometimes. But, its do-able.

Ever been guilty of post-workout bingeing? What do you do to overcome it?

Beat Mindless Eating

Lets be honest…

Ok not that kind of “Honest”. BUT those are really good granola bars. Pricy, but tasty. This one was on sell, hence why you’re seeing it. ;)

So really though, have you ever caught yourself eating because you’re bored? I know I have. I’ve even noticed I’d be reaching for a Zbar or peanut butter crackers, JUST because I thought they were healthy and ya know you have to eat every 2 hours. {by the way, thats not really true}. All those extra calories start adding up. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re intensely working out, training for a race, etc, etc, then yes you’re going to be hungry more and your body is burning tons of calories, so you need to fuel yourself right. What I’m talking about here, is mindlessly eating because.. well, just because. Because you’re bored, sad, tired, angry, happy, etc etc etc. Follow me?

So how do we beat mindless eating?

Go for a walk.

Sitting around the house doing nothing can lead to snacking. Lace up your sneakers and head out for a walk or run. Just get moving. 9 times out of 10, you’ll come back feeling refreshed and won’t want to snack. If you are hungry after exercising, then grab a fruit or handful of nuts and enjoy your snack.

Out of sight, out of mind.

How tempting is it to have a package of cookies right in front of you? I mean really, its just setting yourself up to crave one of those bad boys. Get those snacks out of sight.

Drink water.

A lot of times feeling like you’re hungry, can really mean you need some H2O in your body. Grab an 16oz glass of water, drink, drink, drink and give it 10 minutes and see if you’re really hungry. You may be surprised, your body was asking to be hydrated.

Chew gum.

I do this trick, really. I like orbitz gum. :) When I was getting over my sweets cravings, I would {and still do} chew gum to take my mind off wanting to grab a bag of M&M’s or what not. It does work. Yes, I’ve been known to eat 2 pieces of gum at once… hey a girl’s gotta do what a girls gotta do. But it does work for me, I haven’t been eating junk food since I’ve been chewing gum to curb that desire.

So tell me, what ways can you think of to beat mindless eating?

Vegan Football Player?

When you think of football players eating… what comes to mind?

{and yes, I gaged looking at this}

I would probably think a lot of football players would think “Ooo MEAT” seeing this. Well… not Atlanta Falcons Tight End Tony Gonzalez. Check out this Article my husband sent me. “In 2008—his first meat-free season—Gonzalez stuck to his diet and broke two major records for his position. “I was like, ‘OK, this is working,’” he said. “I have so much more energy when I’m out there.” That is so awesome! I love what he says here “I have so much more energy”. It’s true. I may not be a Vegan, but definitely being a vegetarian I’ve noticed my energy is way better than it ever has been before. I love this lifestyle and I’m conviced anyone, even a NFL Football player can have amazing benefits from it too. :)

So tell me, are you a vegetarian/vegan or would you ever try it as a lifestyle? and why? :)
