{Fast Food} Closet Eaters & Biggest Loser

drive_throughPhoto Source Here - and a good article to read too!

Fast Food.

It’s EVERYWHERE.

Is it good… or bad?

For some, depends on how you look at it.

My blogging buddy Josie over at Yum Yucky, created a Food Fast Cheat Sheet with a great list of foods under 400 calories.

Watching The Biggest Loser last Tuesday, one of the contestants named Mike, started to talk about how he was a “Closet Eater” at it’s finest. Mike would eat roughly about 1,000 calories in a easy 10 minute drive home. Mike would hit MANY fast food drive-thru’s on his way home, he would eat ALL of the food he purchased in a 1o minute spand. He was embarrassed to even let his family {who were obese as well} know he was eating all that food.

It has kept me thinking “do I closet eat?

Is there food that I love {but doesn’t love my hips} and hide that I eat it? Hmm, something to take in to consideration?

I know that when I weighed my heaviest, well over 220+ pounds {honestly I don’t know HOW big I got in highschool, I just know I wore a size 20} I would easily closet eat, having an extra bowl of pasta AFTER dinner when everyone was done and gone, eating a whole quart of ice cream when I was home alone, heading to Sonic for a route 44 Slushie & Dairy Queen for a Blizzard all in one day. But NEVER letting anyone see me eat ALL this extra, extra, HIGH calorie food.

WHY?

Why should you ever have to hide what you’re eating?

If you’re hiding… does that mean it’s bad? Are you ashamed? Embarrassed?

Why closet eat? I personally think, that anything you feel you have to hide from people because deep down inside you’re embarrassed or ashamed of, then you need to check yourself and asked “WHY am I doing this?”

I can tell you now, that I don’t closet eat. I’m not ashamed of what I’m eating or how much of what I eat.

WHY?

Because I choose to eat healthier, better portions and over-around food that I’m proud to eat. Not a big Dairy Queen Blizzard and Fries on the side that make me feel like crap afterward and during make me think “I should not be eating this”.

I’ve taken control of what I eat. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. Your body does reflect what you put in it.

So with speaking of Mike from The Biggest Loser…

Who do you think will be in the FINAL 3 tonight??? DAD or SON? Did you call in and Vote? Who do you think will be the Biggest Loser? Tara? Helen? Mike? Ron? I’m so pumped for the Finale! :)

So tell me, have you ever hidden something you’re eating because you didn’t want people to know? Or have you always been fine with whatever you’re eating healthy or junky?

Weekend Recap: Dallas, Fishing and Mommies

Good Afternoon Ya’ll!

The day has been so busy and flown by! I haven’t made it to the gym yet, fighting off a headache, thinking I didn’t have enough tea this morning since I was out the door at 7:45am {yikes!}

The weekend plans of going to Dallas kind of changed a bit at the last minute.. I ended up staying home instead of going to Dallas {and Whole Foods…sad face} instead Hubs went with Jon, and ended up getting back by Saturday, instead of Sunday.

Saturday Morning I went to Wholyfit, then met up with my lil’sister and went shopping. It was SO humid and hot out. Our hair was huge. {haha!}

Hubs got back home Saturday afternoon. After dinner with my sister’s family, my hubs took our niece and nephew fishing…

fishingAfter an hour, my nephew came running up saying “I caught fee fish! Fee fish! Fee fish!” {meaning, “I caught three fish” hehe} They all had such a blast!

For Mother’s Day we spent the first part of the day with my side of the Fam and then the evening with Hubs side of the Fam…

mothersdayI also made cupcakes to take to everyone. Hubs and I were so good and stayed away from them ;)
We’re doing great staying on the healthy eating track.

The weekend was fun! But I definitely was bummed I didn’t get my Whole Foods trip like I wanted… So today I stopped over at Hubble and Hudson and picked up some trail mix that you can mix yourself. hubblegoods2VERY Tasty

hubblegoodsI picked, Coconut flakes, Dried Cranberries, Almonds, Raisins, Sunflower Seeds, & Flax Seeds.
SUPER YUMMY!

Hubble and Hudson is a great Market place, with a TON of organic choices, but definitely pricer than Whole Foods.

So tell me, do you like trail mix? Do you like making your own mix?

Things I Love Thursdays: Blogging

It’s “Things I Love Thursdays” over at Diaper Diaries, be sure to hop over and link up!

tiltI love Blogging.

It’s true. I really enjoy blogging. I have had quite a few new readers stop by and I thought it’d be a great chance to introduce myself and tell you why I love to blog.

As of present day, I’m a 26 year old newlywed. Married to the perfect man for me. My husband is truly a blessing, and we do make a great Team.

When I first started Blogging, it was to tell all my friends and family about our upcoming wedding. It was a great way for me to find ideas, share ideas, give details, talk parties, and rant about the silly things and talk about being a soon-to-be Mrs.

I loved it, I met so many great Brides-to-be, and found many great ideas about planning a wedding and making it your own. I also would talk about health and exercise, something I’ve always had a passion for, but with the thought of wearing a fancy white dress, the motivation was EVEN more high.

After our wedding and honeymoon, and finally settling into newlyed blissness, my focus for being healthy and fit have never left.

With blogging I can share my journey of getting fit and staying healthy, I meet people that desire the same, get tips and encouragement through the blogging world and find that writing down my thoughts, goals, wants, and achievements is motivating and keeps me accountable.

Not everyone “gets” blogging. But… not everyones tried it either. :)

I love to write. I’m not the best writer. But I write from my heart, and that’s good enough for me.

Welcome to my blogging world. I hope you visit often. Leave a comment, because I always love to hear from you {and if you have a blog, I love to visit}.

So tell me, what do you love? What do you enjoy?

Bakin’ Bread!

As a Wedding Gift, Hubs and I received {I’m pretty sure the coolest} bread machine, ev-ah!

img_0171The picture makes it look smaller, but this puppy is huge-o.

The other day I decided not to be intimidated the machine and attempt to make some bread…
img_0170 Picked up from Honey Whole Wheat mix at HEB and began the baking experience!

When my sister said it’d be super easy, I didn’t believe her, but holy cow, I was wrong.

It’s SO easy

Add mix, add ingredients, hit START…. and BAM! It does all the work for you.

img_0174As you can see my husband cut into it before I got to take a picture. It’s SUPER Tasty.
