Joy comes in the Morning…

Little Ms. Kylie Paige Curtis was born Monday around 11:15am, weighing 8 pounds 5 ounces and 20 inches long! She’s got the cutest chubby cheeks and the softest baby skin.

We went up to the Hospital yesterday and “ooh’d and ahh’d” about her. My sister-in-law is doing great and my brother is extremely proud! What a miracle a little baby is.

I had mixed feelings driving up to the Hospital yesterday… This was the same Hospital that 9 months ago we were all racing to the Hospital, parking on the Right parking lot and running into the ER, praying that my Dad would be ok.

In November of last year, my Dad collapsed in his house, and very sadly, he never woke back up. The knot in my stomach when driving up to the Hospital created a flash-back of November 9th, 2007. I miss my dad, I wish I could convey just how deeply I miss his sweet face and the fun he brought into our lives. These simple words cannot paint the picture that my mind can see, my heart just desires to spend one more day with my daddy.
Driving up to the Hospital yesterday… even though it brought back that memory, the feeling that soon followed was “Thank you Lord I’m turning to the Left parking lot and a miracle is born!” My sister-in-law and brother found out that Sunday that Dad had went to be with Jesus, that they were pregnant with Kylie.

In the mist of overwhelming sadness, God brought a miracle of joy into our lives. The same goes for yesterday, though I was feeling the pain of losing my dad, the joy of knowing this precious baby has come into our family, brought happiness and peace. Psalms 30:5b Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Here’s the face of a little miracle…

Rodney Dustin Giles…

There are moments in life that you stop and realize how good life is. Yeah, we go through pain and heartache, we have bad days and good days and even days that we wish we could erase from our brains. But when you stop and think about life and all that is good in it, all the amazing things God has put in your life and the many ways you are blessed. You start to agree lyrics in a song… “what a wonderful world…”

I wanted to take a minute and tell you 5 wonderful things about Rodney…

1. Rodney has the kindest heart.

Rodney is one of those people that’s just truly kind. The dictionary defines the word “kind” as:

“having or showing a tender and considerate and helpful nature.” Rodney is always willing to help, during the time my Dad passed away, Rodney was there, 100%. Very compassionate and always wanted to know how he could help. Since I’ve known him, and the many-many-many conversations we’ve had, learning more about him and what he truly values and cares about, his heart is so pure and kind.

2. Rodney is a mischievous man.

Part of the reasons that make Rodney wonderful is that he is always up to something… sometimes it drives me a little nuts too. ;) I love hearing all the off-the-wall stories of when he was kid, his mom tells them the best! He was the little boy that always was “up to something”, never any intention to do harm, he just loved being sneaky and into everything. Even to this day, he gets this sparkle in his eye at the thought of something adventurous. My sweet kid at heart.

3. Rodney is hilarious.

Have you ever heard Rodney really, really, really laugh? Oh, it’s the best. It makes me laugh just thinking about it. His sense of humor can be so whacky sometimes that I don’t know if I even get it… then again my sense of humor is like my Dad’s and most people don’t get it either. But Rodney has this way of finding humor in the silly stuff, that when I get to my point of “too serious” he has this awesome way of making me “laugh at the little stuff” and let it go, and before you know it. The laughing and fun begins!

4. Rodney is brilliant.

No really, he will deny this, but he is so smart. I remember thinking that after one of the first few times we hung out. He’s so smart in so many ways. I love to watch him “think through an issue”. He does it so well. He’s very creative and comes up with these great ideas that often make me stop and think “wow, he’s so talented.” I love having deep conversations about him and really picking his brain and listening to all that he has stored in there. He may not agree with this either, but he really has this eagerness to learn more about things that he’s passionate about. He’s always finding ways to become better at what he’s doing and creating excellence from that. He doesn’t settle, he’s always striving for better.

5. The way Rodney loves me.

I know it sounds a little cheesy, but really. He’s so honoring. He compliments me, not just in the “oh you look nice” kind of way, but he picks out things about myself that I don’t even recognize. He’s supportive, and understanding. He encourages me and praises me for the good things I’ve accomplished and helps me understand the confusing things in my life, that half the time I know I make up in my head. He deeply cares about the littlest things for me and wishes wonderful things for the both of us throughout life. I feel safe with Rodney, safe in the sense that my heart trusts him wholly, and I know that God has blessed me by putting Rodney in my life.

These are just a few of the reasons that I think make Rodney wonderful.

Big Love,

Lauren

The colors are here! The colors are here!

It’s been decided! The colors for the wedding. To me, this is such a fun part, playing with colors, figuring out what looks best, what suits you and the over-all vibe you want to give off for the ceremony and reception. An evening of elegance and style!

The colors are Black, Lime Green and Ivory… here’s an example picture of the colors:

Whatcha think?

It makes me smile…

The love of Sundays…

Sunday has always been a great day to me. Even as a little kid, I always loved going to church, spending time with good friends, relaxing, I’ve just always loved Sundays. Today was another great Sunday.

Rodney picked me up for church, the awesome man that he is, he had a a venti green tea from starbucks waiting for me (he’s so awesome). We had some time to kill so we drove around looking at houses and dreaming of our “future” together. Church was great, I love how when our Pastor will start to pray, Rod will reach for my hand. It’s so sweet.

After church we went to eat at Free Birds, I’d neve been there before, and it was SO GOOD! Yummy!
We went to Willowbrook Mall, Rodney had to get his dad’s phone fixed and after that we drove through Glennloch Farms, its so pretty over there. These are yet again places that are so close to me, that I never new existed.

After that we went to my Future-in-laws house, I love going over there. Rod’s mom and I can talk for hours, just ask Rodney. He was pacing the floor. :)
After an hour and some odd minus, we left and ran a few more errands, stopped over at my brother and sister-in-laws house and then finally made it back to my house. A FULL day! But so much fun, I love spending life with Rodney and enjoying a Sunday together.

The endless conversations and singing ridiculously loud in the car are moments in life that stick out in my head and add to my list of why I love Sundays… even more so now that Rodney is in my life.
