Track Run

Before I begin my story, remember the nike shirt that said “Winners Train, Losers Complain” at Lady Foot Locker? I took a picture of it {yet I cannot find that post on here.. lemme know if you do} and wanted it, but didn’t want to pay full price for it {$25}. Well… check this out:

Yes’m, I got it! Went into the same Lady Foot Locker a bit ago and found it there, on sale… hmm nice huh? The best part is it was only $6.00. Score! :)

Now on to my story…

So Hubs and I went to the track the other night to get our 4-miler in. The run was going great, each go ’round I was pushing myself a little harder and feeling really good, minus the chilly cold wind.

Then all of the sudden these two teens walk on to the track, no biggie, expect the boy had a “gun” with him. We took another look when we passed by and it looked like a toy, but still, my contacts can deceive me and I wasn’t sure. So, I asked hubs what it was and he thought it was a toy gun too. But, still. A student can’t have anything at all looking like a gun on school property, weird.

So we made another go ’round, I was running a bit ahead of hubs and coming upon the two teens again, and totally lost focus, this kid was creeping me out… so I turned around, walked back to hubs and said he needed to ask that kid what he was doing. So hubs did, asked him the kid what he had, the teen looked up {from sitting on the grass} “its just an air soft gun dude”, hubs reply “uh, yeah you can’t have that here, and when the cops show up, they’re not going to like that either.”

Needless to say the kid gave attitude, and I wanted to get out of there, even if he had an air soft fun and thats all, my focus was messed up. So we left, 2 miles later. :( Stupid kid.

Seriously though, why would a kid bring a air soft gun to school?

Anyway, Saturday’s schedule holds a 7-mile run, but we’re doing it on Friday, since we have things planned Saturday morning. :)

Happy Almost Friday Ya’ll!

Juice your Greens

In February I got a yucky cold and in turn developed a cough that just wouldn’t go away. It didn’t matter what medicine I took, the cough was not going away. My sister told me to try juicing, especially Kale. Kale is considered to be a highly nutritious vegetable with powerful antioxidant properties; kale is considered to be anti-inflammatory as well. So I decided to Juice away!

Granted I was a little nervous to try it. I like Kale in salads, but wasn’t sure about it in a juice.

I juiced:

  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Orange
  • Handful of Kale

And then the taste test…

It looks so GREEN!

And it was delicious! It was sweet, wasn’t expecting that. I loved it really. I’m craving another one. Plus, my cough has finally gone away {after a few of these} and I feel great. So the moral of the story, don’t fear the greens, go ahead, juice away! :)

And also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my awesome lil’ Sis!!!

Rodeo Run 5k Recap

Happy  Monday Ya’ll! Hope your weekend was fantastic.

Saturday morning Hubs and I ran the Rodeo Run 5k

The morning was super chilly. We had to arrive about an hour and 45 minutes before the race began since they’d be shutting down the roads.

We searched for Melissa, Greg & Kim, but for the longest time we couldn’t find them. We finally met up with Kim and Greg. Melissa was walking with her Parents. :)

The race began at 9:45, and it warmed up nicely and the sun was shining bright. So I totally wish I would have brought my sunglasses. :(

The bummerish part about this run was that the 5k was not D-tag’d and I did not have my watch, so I really have no idea what my actual time was. But that’s ok, the race was fun, tons of spectators, rodeo stations set up cheering, and there was a great post-party

We went around to each tent, got lots of water, yogurt, & bananas. As well as some great little extras..

Good stuff! :) The post-party was great and perfectly organized… most of the races I’ve done haven’t had a great layout for the post-party. So this was totally great.

I’m sure I’d do this race again. :)

How was your weekend, what did you do?

Rodeo Run

Saturday Hubs and I are running the Rodeo 5k downtown.

This will be my second race this year and Hubs first. We’re pretty excited. :) Half-Marathon training has been going well, and we hope to rock this race.

This should be a pretty fun race too, Melissa, Greg, and Kim are running this race too :) So between all of us bloggers, there should be a TON of awesome pictures. :D
