<p>Saturday was the<a href="http://www.bayoucityclassic.org/"> Bayou City 10k </a>downtown.  Hubs and I had signed up a while ago&#8230; but sadly Hubs was sick this weekend, so he couldn&#8217;t run it. However, I was glad that my lil&#8217; sis would be doing it with me.</p>
<p>Saturday morning, woke up at the crack O&#8217;dawn, it was so cold that morning&#8230; I had my normal pre-race meal, english muffin with peanut butter, green tea and water.</p>
<p>I met up with my lil&#8217; sis and headed downtown by 6:45am for the race. Race started at 8am.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_05231.jpg" rel="lightbox[2431]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2434" title="100_0523" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_05231-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="300" /></a>Picture I took of this super pretty building&#8230; I love the city. <img src='http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align: left;">It was beyond windy {and chilly} while we were waiting for the race to begin. I think we were in a wind tunnel honestly.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">We saw my friend Joe before the race, but some how lost him along the way. {Hi Joe! good job!}</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">But lil&#8217; sis and I made sure we got our before race picture&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0525.jpg" rel="lightbox[2431]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2435" title="100_0525" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0525-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I&#8217;ve got my <a href="http://zensah.com/womens-arm-sleeve.html">pink zensah arm sleeves</a> on. Remember how I said the ones I had were too big and were slipping, well I got a smaller size and can I just say&#8230; I LOVE <strong>ZENSAH</strong> products! What a difference, they fit amazing and really kept my arms warm before the race and even during the race they were so comfortable. So note to all yourselves: order the right size. <img src='http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> And buy zensah arm sleeves. You&#8217;ll thank me. <img src='http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>The race began at 8am and we were off!</p>
<p>By mile 2, lil&#8217; sis had to pee {she hydrated UP that morning <img src='http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> } so we waited for what seemed like forever and then got back on the road. While waiting for Sarah, I saw my friend <a href="http://kimmarx77.blogspot.com/">Kim</a> truckin&#8217; along. So proud of her!</p>
<p>This might be was of my most favorite races so far&#8230; I enjoyed everything about it. There also was a lot of people cheering throughout the race, which was really fun.</p>
<p>I absolutely love doing races with my lil&#8217; sis, we encourage each other along the way and keep each other distracted when we feel tired.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0529.jpg" rel="lightbox[2431]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2436" title="100_0529" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0529-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>The race went by beautifully. The weather was divine, the race was so organized and I felt great the whole time. <img src='http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>The finish line was nice too.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0535.jpg" rel="lightbox[2431]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2437" title="100_0535" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0535-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>And of course our after shot&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0536.jpg" rel="lightbox[2431]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2438" title="100_0536" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0536-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>and I leave you with the randomness we saw when we were leaving&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0537.jpg" rel="lightbox[2431]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2439" title="100_0537" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0537-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>

<p><a href="http://www.navitasnaturals.com/">Navitas Naturals </a>sent me a few products to try out:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.navitasnaturals.com/products/cacao/cacao-nibs.html">Cacao Sweet Nibs</a></li>
</ul>
<p><em>&#8220;Navitas Naturals cacao beans are hand selected for quality, partially fermented to alleviate bitterness, and processed at low temperatures for maximum nutrient retention. Once extracted from the pod-like fruit, purified water is then used to cleanse the beans where they are peeled and partially ground to form small pieces or “nibs.” Navitas Naturals Cacao Nibs contain 100% pure cacao that is certified organic, kosher, gluten-free, vegan, and raw.&#8221;</em></p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.navitasnaturals.com/products/sweet-tooth/palm-sugar.html">Palm Sugar</a></li>
</ul>
<p><em>&#8220;Navitas Naturals Palm Sugar is made from the sun-kissed sweet juice of the tropical coconut palm sugar blossoms. Once the nectar is collected, it is kettle-boiled into a thick caramel, dried, and ground into a fine crystalized powder. Our Palm Sugar is 100% organic, vegan, kosher, gluten-free, and sustainably-grown.&#8221;</em></p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.navitasnaturals.com/products/acai/acai-powder.html">Acai Powder</a></li>
</ul>
<p><em>&#8220;Navitas Naturals Acai Power comes from the low-lying coastal areas of Brazil. Due to the delicate nature of the berry, the fruit is transported immediately after harvest where it is hand-inspected for quality. The whole berries are then freeze-dried and low temperature milled to ensure maximum nutrient content, resulting in a powder that is both nutrient-rich and easily integrated into your favorite recipes. The only ingredient in our wonderful Acai Power is pure 100% organic acai that is also certified kosher and vegan.&#8221;</em></p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.navitasnaturals.com/products/blue-bottles/blue-bottles-ocean.html">Stainless steel Drinking Bottle</a></li>
</ul>
<p><em>&#8220;Stainless steel loop cap for easy handling, 100% food grade 18/8 stainless steel bottle, Wide-mouth design, fits ice cubes, Easy cleaning, Reusable &amp; 100% recyclable, Dishwater-safe&#8221;</em></p>
<p>And also a recipe book&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0298.jpg" rel="lightbox[2408]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2411" title="100_0298" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0298-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Which has a ton of awesome recipes! I can&#8217;t wait to try them all!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0302.jpg" rel="lightbox[2408]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2412" title="100_0302" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0302-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>I decided to to finally make the bran muffins I had&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0315.jpg" rel="lightbox[2408]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2415" title="100_0315" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0315-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="300" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0312.jpg" rel="lightbox[2408]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2413" title="100_0312" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0312-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>I started with the dry ingredients&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0320.jpg" rel="lightbox[2408]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2416" title="100_0320" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0320-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>I added two tablespoons of the <a href="http://www.navitasnaturals.com/products/cacao/cacao-nibs-sweet.html">Cacao Sweet Nips</a>, one tablespoon of flaxseed, the mixture and some butter. Then the wet ingredients&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0325.jpg" rel="lightbox[2408]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2417" title="100_0325" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0325-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>and blend&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0327.jpg" rel="lightbox[2408]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2418" title="100_0327" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0327-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>filled into the mini muffin pans&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0333.jpg" rel="lightbox[2408]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2419" title="100_0333" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/100_0333-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>and then baked for 10-15 minutes on 350 degrees&#8230;</p>
<p>and viola! Mini-Muffins!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/photo-1.jpg" rel="lightbox[2408]"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2420" title="photo-1" src="http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/photo-1-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Really tasty, the cacao nips give it the perfect little sweet bite. <img src='http://www.teamgiles.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Now that its getting a bit warmer out, I&#8217;ll have to start marking smoothies and try all those recipes!</p>
