Happy Wednesday my friends, and you know that that means…
Its WORKOUT WEDNESDAY!!
I talked yesterday about doing push-ups daily, but I’ve also been working on getting miles in for my half-marathon training.
I went running with my friend Rachel over a week ago and talked about endurance in running. Rachel definitely has the endurance part of running down. I’ve realized that I’m lacking in that area. I can sprint my heart out all I want for short-distances, but when it comes to running for the long haul, I really start to fall short.
I’ve been working on slowing down and slowing my breathing. I know that when I start gasping for air, its all mental, I think that I can’t control my breath and then I give up. Rachel gave me a great tip,
“when you get to that point and you start gasping for air, mentally tell yourself to slow your breathing down, you can control it.“
And it’s working!
I went for a 3 mile run the other night {around 7pm, its too hot!! yes you’ll hear me say this the whole month of August, just sayin’} and I worked on running a bit slower and concentrating on controlling my breathing. I ran half a mile without panicking, in fact, it was so enjoyable, I just kept going without fear of passing out.
Success!

The heat is always the worst part of it! Thankfully San Francisco won’t be hot for you! You can do it!
I’ve been having trouble motivating myself to do push-ups and other core work too. Slowly, I’ve been adding them into my routine. By September, I should be where I want to be.
I’ll have to do an actual post sometime for the linkup, but I have too many other things to blog about this week.
For the month of August, I’ve committed to doing the 30 day shred every single day (so far so good). I want to try p90x in Sept or October and I’ve got my 2nd Half on 9/5 so I thought that would be a good way to test my mettle and lose a few more pounds before the half. Other than that, I am doing my normal running training (3x/wk: pace run, hills or speed, and then long run) and going to the gym on Sundays for my favorite classes. This week, my long is a 10 miler. *eep!*
