I thought I’d bring you down memory lane one more time, for another look at the races that we’ve done this year…
April 2009, Hubs and I ran our first 5k. I signed us up a couple days before the race.
Confession: I really didn’t even know how far a 5k was… but all I knew was I wanted to do this, and luckily my honey was willing to go along with it.

I remember the weather was crisp and cool and I loved every minute of it. I was so in completely HOOKED to this “runners high” once the run was over, that once I was home, I already was looking for the next one…
Which brings us to May, The Astros Race for the Pennant…
May. Running. Houston. HOT! Holy hannah, it was sup-AH hot. I remember running at the end of this race towards the finish line and my handsome husband who had already finished was waiting there for me with a bottle of water.
Which I needed, because I wanted to faint by the time I finished. Ah, good times.
And then…
I got a little crazy.
I signed up for the 10 for Texas in October. Where Hubs said “Have fun, I’ll cheer for you”.
So I convinced lil’ sis to join me…
And through training and many long Saturday runs, Lil’ sis and I completed 10 miles on 10/10/09! Woo!
Then came Halloween, Hubs and I decided to do a 5k, it was FREEZING that morning.

I should have brought gloves, my hands were ice!

But it warmed up as the race began and we had a friendly competition of “who’s going to win” between the two of us… annnnnd I won.
{by one second. no joke}
And the last race of the year was on Thanksgiving day.
with good friends and good times…
and one of my favorite pictures of hubs and I right now… love the sun shining through
and that my friends are the races we’ve done this year. If someone would have said to me in January, that I would run FIVE races in 2009, I would have thought they were crazy. Crazy thing is, I can’t wait to see what comes in 2010 for us. Already Hubs and I have signed up for the Rock ‘n Roll Half-Marathon in Nashville, and I’ve got my eyes set on the Women’s Nike Half-Marathon in the fall, once that raffle opens I’m gonna be ALL OVER it.
What was your favorite race/fitness related event of 2009?

Who’s saying what?
