Good morning! How was everyone’s weekend? Mine, was packed!
Friday evening, hubs and I went to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner…

Tasty dinner! Came home and got ready for an early morning wake up call. Was in bed by 9pm.
Saturday Morning, at 4:30AM, I wake up to a random BEEP! sound in the house. After roaming the house in the dark with my iPhone in hand, I found out the smoke alarm battery was dying, and would BEEP! to let us know that. Why was I in the dark? Because I thought maybe the carbon monoxide detector was beeping because there was gas in the house. Did I ever tell ya’ll about that drama? So I was worried about turning a light on and in turn blowing up the house at 4 in the morning. See, smart.
So after all that craziness, I started to get ready for 10 for Texas.
Fueling up!
Hubs volunteered at the race and got this groovy shirt…

Lil’ sis met us at our house so we’d all ride over together. When we piled everything into Hubs car, he goes to start it annnnnnd…. the battery is dead. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH DEAD BATTERIES IN OUR HOUSE!? I mean, seriously? So we quickly moved everything to my car and headed off to Market Street. Hubs left for the volunteer check in area and lil’ sis and I got our gear together and post-race snacks and headed towards the porta-potties to get in line {ew}. I seriously do not like those things, they’re just plain nasty!
Once we got to the square, we met up with hubs and got a few pictures in before the run…

remember when I said it was silly they gave us those hats for the race, because its NEVER cold here. Um, yeah. It was stupid cold out that morning! Lil’ sis and I actually opted to keep our hoodies on for the race.

Hubs and I…
and then we’re off!
do you see me?
Hubs was at the finish line to pass out waters to everyone, so he had my camera, he said this was the guy who won…
He finished in 51 minutes. Crazy! Apparently no one was behind him for a while
At mile 2 lil sis had to potty so we waited while about 7 other people were in line. I felt fine and just wanted to keep going. After that pit stop it felt like the miles flew by and we were at mile 5 before we knew it. Mile 6 even felt good, but as soon as mile 8 showed up I felt beyond ready to be done with this. Through miles 5, 7 and 9 I had some Fruit Punch Sports Beans. Ya’ll I LOVE those things!! Get some, try it, love it!!
When mile 8 hit all I could see in my head was the finish line and my amazing husband waiting for me.
Every step through mile 8-9 my legs were heavy, my knees felt stiff but I was not going to stop! Almost there. Almost there. Almost there!
And then we saw my mom, lil’ sis’ boyfriend and MY HUSBAND!! We ran our hearts out and then we were there…

and this me is catching my breath!…

and feeling amazing. Despite the pain my body was physically feeling, mentally I was so proud of myself. Never did I think I’d push myself this way. I just ran DOUBLE DIGITS!
After Hubs grabbed me some water and a banana, I was so hungry.

We snacked on the steps and listened to the announcer give out prizes, then we heard him said “1495″. I looked at lil’ sis and said “That’s YOU!” She won a Nike backpack and hat.
Soon after Hubs and I headed home and I crashed. Slept for a good 4 hours. 4 HOURS ya’ll! Me. Napping. It’s crazy. But well deserved.
After much rest and lots of h2O, hubs and I met up with friends of ours and had a delicious dinner and then came home for a game of Trivial Pursuit…

Ash and I were on a team and Joe and Hubs were on a team. Of Course, Ash and I rocked the game and the guys cheated. Cheaters.
Good times though… good times.
And then there was Sunday… all that consisted of was REST REST REST. And major soreness, my hamstrings were killing me {and still doing so}. Stretching them feels like fire on the back of my legs. So worth the pain though. I’ve never felt so accomplished before. Such a great feeling.
Few things I realized on this race:
- I felt really good till mile 7. My happy mile is between 5-6.
- Hydrating like crazy starting 3 days before a long run will pay off big time
- I’m still not a morning person
- I want to start training more, I enjoy long Saturday run
So tell me, how was your weekend? What did you go?
Also, Congrats to Morgan for running her first Marathon in Chicago this weekend!!

Who’s saying what?
