Things I’ve Learned {so far} about Running…

Things I’ve learned {so far} from running:

  1. English muffin & peanut butter is my favorite pre-run eats
  2. No matter how many times you go pee before a long run, you’re going to have to pee again real soon.
  3. Getting mentally ready for a run is so important
  4. Any Gu’s, Goo’s, Gel’s or anything else of the sort is not my friend
  5. I really like sports beans
  6. That its important to voice your goals
  7. Breathe. It’s all about getting your breathing in a rhythm
  8. Signing up for your first a 5k walk/run will get you hooked. The running bug will bite!
  9. Read about running. Anyone can run, but doing it the right way keeps one running. :)
  10. That I am capable of more than I ever thought I could

Good Morning! How was everyone’s weekend?

Mine went like this…

Friday after work and I got a little birthday shopping in…

I didn’t have much time to shop the mall {which was crazy packed} since Hubs and I were going to the Astros game that night…

Good times at the game :)

Saturday early morning, went out for a 7 mile run with lil’ sis. Great weather, great run! Getting so excited for the 10 for Texas! Its coming up soon {October 10th}.

Last week’s 6 mile run totally felt a lot harder for lil’ sis and I. I was thinking about it afterward and I really think this week was much better, because mentally I was ready for this run. I had my head in the right place and knew that these 7 miles were gonna be a piece of cake, that we were gonna rock those miles out without any thought. Now last weekend with the 6 miler, my thought processes was totally different, I was dreading every step, thinking how much my feet hurt and just didn’t have the right mindset at all. I’m convinced that running is not only physically challenging but mentally challenging as well. Just had to get my head in the game! What about you? Ever felt that way?

On the run I had some grape sports beans

these were pretty tasty too, the Fruit Punch ones so far are my favorite, but the grape is a close second. :)

Then after a bunch of water I had this as a snack…

That evening we had friends over for more birthday festivities and I made a cake {yes, I made my own birthday cake, but I like to bake}…

It’s always a circus when we’re all together :)

The rest of the day was spent with the lil’ sister at the outlet, didn’t score many deals. Waa-waa. Was looking for a fuel belt at Nike, but wasn’t too impressed with what they had. Oh hum.

But on my way home, my Honda finally hit the 100,000 mark…

Aww, such a good car. I drove this baby off the lot with only 12 miles on it. Oh the places we’ve been together. xoxo :)

That evening, I got home to find a package had arrived…

  • Trader Joe’s Kettle Corn {YEA! I don’t have trader joe’s but I love their stuff}

  • and a card {I love cards!!}

Fitness-Focused


Thank you so much to everyone who commented on yesterdays blog and all your emails. I loved reading about all of your dreams, and I definitely think any of you can make them happen!

Ya’ll! It feels like fall out. I love it! Yesterday I dressed a little “warmer”… Ok not really, but my outfit was really cute, and I had to take a picture!

Glad I dressed cute and felt that way, because it was a nutso busy day at the office! So many visitors, meetings, crazy, crazy, crazy! But it made the day fly by, so that indeed was nice! Glad I brought a mid-morning snack, because I ended up taking a late lunch…

Tasty trail mix!! Any of you trail mix fans? Oh so good!

Tomorrow morning calls for a 7-mile run. Wish me luck! The plan is to get out of the house at sun-rise {I just can’t run in the dark alone….don’t judge.} and afterward catch the Wholyfit class that morning. Busy morning! Just the way I like my Saturday mornings, fitness-focused!

That evening the birthday festivities will continue! Bring on the par-tay! I hear there will be queso… good thing I’m running that morning! ;)
