Good Morning! Monday is here. Sheesh, time flies when you’re having fun!
Let’s recap shall we…
Friday night my awesome husband brought me these…
Gorgeous flowers for our 6 month anniversary
The fireplace works great as our picture-taker
Hubs surprised me with where we went for dinner, we drove to Rice Village {about an hour or so from where we live} and ate a place called Benjy’s described as Modern American Dining. Very tasty food, we had an appetizer…
A veggie goat cheese dish, very good
an amazing greens salad, that I downed before snaping a shot of its beauty. whoops!
I had a spinach, tomato & mozzerella pizza
My honey had some kind of chicken pizza
For dessert, which we weren’t going to have but some how the waitress talked Hubs into it, was an Italian gelatin dish with a side of sparkling white sorbet, the sorbet was delicious, the gelatin not so much.
After dinner a crazy lighting/thunderstorm showed up, so we stayed at Benjy’s for a bit and let it pass, we were going to go walking around in Rice Village, instead we drove around and looked at a few places and the gorgeous huge mansion house. Yum!
Such a great time with my best friend. I love him more than my simple words can express. He’s truly a gift from God.
Saturday moring’s wake up call came all to early. For those of you who may not know me well… I don’t DO mornings. I need at least a good 30-45 minutes to wake up and then we can speak to each other. I am not one of those blessed “morning person’s” that can jump out of bed and get their morning started. Sigh. Lucky people, I envy you.
So when 5:45AM came knocking on my head, I peeled myself out of bed and started to get ready and get some breakfast down me…
Breakfast of champions!
- Toast with PB
- Banana Smoothie
- Green tea and Water
Good stuff ya’ll.
My sister met me at my house and we headed out to the event. Run for the Fallen. This was really amazing to participate in. My lil’ sis and I don’t have family members in the military, but we have friends and extended family in the military and this event made us think of all of them. This run was to honor those soldiers who have died while serving our country. My friend, Sandy’s son is in the Marines and just got sent back to Afghanistan for the second time. Sandy belongs to a parent group called “Operation Lonestar”, who have had 4 soldiers in their group die. We ran 4 miles in honor of those soldiers. It was very emotional hearing the stores of these families and seeing how much all of these individual families have become so close because their children, husbands, wives, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles are serving our country. It was a very cool experience for us, we didn’t time the run, we didn’t worry about our pace or who we were passing or who was passing us. It wasn’t about that, it was about so much more and we really were glad to be apart of it….

The 4 soldiers who have died

After the run, lil’ sis and I had some breakfast, did some errands and come home completely tired. I tried so hard not to take a nap, {I just don’t do naps ya’ll} but it was just too much, I slept for a bit and hubs luckily woke me up in time for us to meet with our friends Greg and Melissa for dinner and a movie.
We got snow cones before hand, and “snuck” them into the theater.
Mmm coconut snowcone
We went to go see Julie & Julia, this is a movie for cooks and bloggers. No doubt. Very sweet movie, based on two true stories. Go see it
After the movie, hubs and I made our way to clear lake for our friend Duane’s birthday. Good times ya’ll. My friend Ashley has pictures from that night, they’re fun! Gotta get them from her! We got home about 1AM-ish and from my 5:45AA wake up call, I was exhausted! I fell asleep on the way home, another not like me thing, I was super tired!
Sunday morning we went to church {super great service} and came home, hubs napped, I blogged {no joke, I just can’t force myself to nap for the heck of it… am I weird? don’t answer that} and kept on washing laundry. Laundry is not my friend.
That evening when it kinda cooled off, we went to the highschool track to run, great workout! I am deperately waiting for this humid-hot weather to change and be able to run in cooler conditions. You have no idea how much I think about this… obessed much? Perhaps.
So tell me, how was your weekend? What was one highlight of your weekend?
