Hello lovely people, hope your Monday started off great! Mine was.
So, I told you new and exciting things were in the future, and they are! I started a new job working at an Architect Firm very close to my house, 9 miles away exactly. 9 miles!! I used to drive 28 miles each way to work. What a change. I love this place! I am so excited it about.
I went to lunch at a Cafe on the run, had a killer salad…

with hummus on the side. Oh be still my heart! It was so good!!
And since it was gorgeous outside {hot, but gorgeous}

I took a small walk to my favorite place…

Mmmm, smells delicious
What a great way to spend a relaxing lunch. There’s so many trails, walking paths around the new office that I cannot WAIT till it cools off, so I can walk/run on a lunch break. It’s still in the higher 90′s, and 120% humidity. Not a good idea to be out and about at Noon in that.
Remember how I told you about the August Challenge? Well I got an email this morning with Kimberly’s blog post, did you read it? It’s awesome! One thing she talks about is making small changes in your daily lifestyle, here’s a bit from that:
Small Changes: (Incorporate at least 3 this week)
- Find ways to fit in exercise into your current routine. For example, do counter push-ups while waiting for the microwave to stop. Or dips & wall sits while at work.
- Bring your lunch all this week.
- Get to bed a little earlier to fit in quick am workout.
- Eat a small meal every 3-4 hours–no excuses!
- Replace high calorie drinks with iced green tea or low sugar/natural juices.
- Drink 8-10 tall glasses of water.
So I was looking over these and figuring out what to incorporate into my daily life.
#1, definitely going to do that.
#2, hmm went out to lunch today because I wasn’t sure if they had a refridgerator, but now I know and I can do that one too.
#3, hmm waking up earlier for a workout… did I mention I’m not a morning person? I’ll work on this one.
#4, this one will be a challenge with starting at a new job, but I can plan accordingly.
#5, I so win on this one already. If you read this one, you KNOW I am a Green Tea drinker and really have no place for sugary drinks, blah!
#6, this one is just too easy *Siiiiip* Ahh, tasty water!
So what about you? What can you add into your daily lifestyle? And for all you workin’ peeps out there, do you work out on your lunch break?
On another note, I had to share my baby brother’s website/blog that he says. This kid is such a body building boy! So proud of his accomplishments, Adam is so dedicated, faithfully works out, eats healthy. He makes me proud!

Congrats on the lesser commute! I used to drive 35 miles to work (and 35 miles home) every day and it was tough!
One thing I would do when I worked full time is to run during lunch. Usually about 3 miles and then I would get cleaned up and have a quick lunch at my desk.
Eventually I got a few co-workers to join me. Then we all signed up for a 5 mile race and put money in a pot to go to the person with the fastest time. I won! It was great motivation on the days you just don’t feel like doing it.
Congrats on the new job!
Congrats on the new job. I drive pretty far to work everyday myself so 9 miles sounds AWESOME to me.
Mmmm hummus.
I was home with the kids for 2 weeks on vacation. There was less time to exercise, but I compensated by drinking more water and faithfully eating right. And you know what? It broke me out a long time plateau. My clothes are looser and I see the slim-ification. I like this change I’ve made. I’ll stick with it….until I hit another plateau. LOL
Congrats on the new job and shorter commute! It’s encouraging to hear that people are getting work, makes me hopeful!
Thanks everyone!!
Ya’ll are so great.
Great tips there too!
i’m terrible with the water drinking thing. i hear it again and again, and i just feel like i have to FORCE myself to drink water outside of my workouts. ugh. and i hate the taste of those packet things to add flavor.
