Monday night’s spin class was AWESOME!! This instructor has this great accent and she’ll say “Go, just go!” and everyone just pushes as hard as they can. It’s pretty hardcore. I love it. Addicted to it.
This morning for my mid morning snack…

I had an Iced Oatmeal Raisin Luna Bar. YUM!

I really like Luna’s website, I found this the other day: Our Causes very neat! Check it out!
So I was thinking the other day why do people make so many excuses when it comes to exercising? In a way it boggles my mind, but then I thought, “I used to make the SAME excuses…” so what are those excuses you ask? Well lets just see…
1. I’m too busy to work out.
You are always going to be too busy. Always. You have to make an effort and plan to exercise. It doesn’t always come easy to you. You have to make it work. Exercising is about YOU. Do schedule YOU time? No? It’s time to start. Exercising is such an awesome way to clear your head, collect your thoughts and destress from life. Your body & mind will thank you. Make a commitment. I’ve never did a workout that I regretted. Ever.
2. Working out takes up too much time.
Honestly, it doesn’t. You can get a good solid workout in, in 20 minutes and be done. Ever checked out Jillian Michael’s 30-day shred? 20 minutes a day, that’s all it takes to improve your physical fitness. You don’t have 20 minutes you say? Start out with 10 minutes, go for a walk, take the stairs {twice!} do something that starts to get your mind and body active. Being sedentary will never help you. You have to move. If you start out with 10, 15, 20 minutes of exercising, what’s going to happen is your body is going to crave more, you will want to work out more, and it will be come a priority to you.
3. I’m too tired to work out.
The funny thing about exercising… you end up getting this awesome energy from it. Sure, the first few times you start working out, you’re going to feel a bit of fatigue. That may happen, but the extra energy is going to show up. check out this article from WebMD saying “If fatigue hounds your days, a little exercise may shoo it away without leaving you drenched with sweat.” So do your tired self a favor, MOVE MOVE MOVE
4. It costs to much to exercise.
Sorry ya’ll, that’s a flat out LIE. All you need is you. Go for a walk, eventually start running, or go online and find some workout videos if you feel more comfortable being inside your house. There’s some great videos on the web. My friend Sarah, an expert fitness trainer has an awesome blog, where she posts videos of her workouts she does for her clients. There’s always a way to work out, without breaking your bank. You just have to commit to it!
5. I’m too fat to go to the gym.
Oh how I’ve said this one so many time. And if you keep repeating it, you realize how SILLY it sounds. You are never TOO fat to go to a gym, go for a walk, exercise in SOME way. Never. I don’t know about your men, but for women, it’s very hard to walk into a gym and see these ridiculous rock-hard bodied women and think “what the heck am I doing here, I just don’t belong”. Oh but my friend you do. You deserve to be there and get your fitness on too! Your life depends on it, your family depends on it. You only get one YOU, and what you do with you now will determine your future. Don’t let your insecurity win this battle. Push pass the mental block that says “I’m too fat to _____” and just go for it. After you’ve finished your hardcore work out, you feel so strong walking out of that gym, that all those discouraging thoughts will have melted away with every step you took on that treadmill. Don’t cheat yourself. You deserve this.
6. I’m already thin, I don’t need to exercise.
Oh but you DO. Just because you’re thin, doesn’t mean your body doesn’t need exercise. Exercising is good for your heart, lungs, digestive track, and so on and so on. Your body craves it. It’s good for your overall health. You may be blessed with skinny jeans {and well those jeans well} but you’ve still gotta MOVE and keep all those parts in the insides working properly and a healthy diet and exercise are what you need. Don’t lie to yourself. Check out this article from MSNBC Health/Fitness.
Other benefits of regular exercise:
- Exercise improves your mood.
- Exercise combats chronic diseases.
- Exercise helps you manage your weight.
- Exercise boosts your energy level.
- Exercise promotes better sleep.
Do you ever find yourself making some of these excuses? I know I’ve made most of them, and I know I always try to justify myself and think I’m right. Nope sorry La, you’re not right. I have to stop and think why am I depriving myself of something good? Exercising is SO good for you, and honestly, it’s fun. You may not think it’s fun, but give it time. It’s so awesome and the feeling of accomplishment from it is so hard to describe. You have to feel it for yourself to understand how great it is, to know you pushed through your weaknesses and came through strong.
So my friends, get out there, make changes in your life for the better and MOVE, MOVE, MOVE!
So tell me, what’s one excuse you have to fight all the time?

Who’s saying what?
