Got the Fever!

Well my friends… the running bug has seriously BIT me.

I’ve got the fever.

I think we’ve found our next race… ready for this?…

10fortxlogo10 For Texas 10-mile Race

Whatcha think? I’m crazy? 10 MILES??

Holy Bananas people. I’ll let you on that one…

Tuesday night, I made a tasty baked sweet potato with Laughing Cow Cheese…

laughing-cow-cheesethe garlic & herb in the sweet potato was so divine! This was actually a recipe out of The Biggest Loser Family cookbook I have. Go fig?

After dinner I felt very restless, I hadn’t worked out yet today {in less you consider watching twin 2 year olds for the day a workout… I think it is} so I decided to go for a run while Hubs mowed our huge-o backyard and tiny-miny front yard. I did one lap around this trail we have right by our house, about 1-mile. It felt so good to get out and MOVE. I ran a little bit, I walked a little bit and then a really good song came on my iPod and the wind started to blow, so I got a bit pumped and sprinted until I thought I could FALL OVER. {Note: I did not fall over, just really considered it} Gosh it felt GOOD! I’m pretty convinced this running fever is here to stay! :) It’s so much fun!

In other news my fantastic Hubs is considering doing a Triathlon, when and where hasn’t been determined, but I’ll keep you posted. He keeps saying “WE” when we talked about the triathlon… I smile and nod and know that I’ll probably get drug into doing it too… do I fear? Um… Yes. But I could do it. :) I have confidence in myself.

Then there’s been talk of the doing the Houston Rodeo Run next year. That’d be fun!

So we’ll see what’s to come… I’m excited about the possibilities!

So tell me, what’s the BIGGEST challenge you’ve ever considered/accomplished? Anything, name it. I wanna know. :)

Feed Me. Now.

Seriously ya’ll… I am SO dang hungry since Saturday.

Rev’d up metabolism much?

Guess so.

Since my stomach won’t be quiet and continues to growl very rudely. I must feed the hunger pangs! I’ve downed plenty of water, since a lot of times your stomach is growling for water and not necessarily food. ‘Tis true.

Monday, had my normal morning smoothie, by 10:30 I was dying for second breakfast, then my Noon I thought I was going to eat the cough I was so hungry, I needed food NOW!… and it continued on that way throughout the rest of the day.

That night for dinner I made baked Ziti, remember this? It’s so amazing. You’d think pasta & a salad would fill me up.

Nope. So I had some watermelon.. Mmm so good!

used an ice cream scoop to get the watermelon out, less mess and cute little round yumminess!

So I thought after all that, I’d be satisfied…

Nope. Stomach starts begging for food again, and it’s a genuine “I AM HUNGRY!” kind of hunger pang, not just, “I’m bored” kind of eating.

I didn’t want to just eat something random and then feel blah afterward since it was later last night, so I decided to have some granola, yogurt and berries. Holy goodness batman, I love this stuff!

100_4211

100_4212So good.
Strawberry yogurt, black berries and a granola w/ dried berries. T-t-t-tasty!

And with that, I was finally satisfied. :)

So tell me, do you ever get these crazy “FEED ME NOW” feelings? What do you do about them? Do you eat whatever till your satisfied or ignore them all together? What is your FAVORITE healthy snack?

Weekend Recap: Race Report!

Hello Everyone, hope your weekend was absolutely fantastic!

Mine was delightful, very eventful for sure.

Friday night, my honey and I went to dinner with my hilarious friend Ondrea and her awesome husband. Good times!

Saturday morning, bright and early was race day! WOOP! I’ve been waiting for the Race for the Pennant since waaaay last year when I first heard about it. Even before I ever did the 5K in April

6:00 AM, we woke up, in a daze really. I am NOT a morning person.

Not.at.all.

So after having some tea, H2O and half a bagel with Justin’s Nut Butter {it was delicious! Peanut Butter with Honey, SO amazing! Try it!}, I was finally now awake.

Hubs and I met up with my younger brother and sister.

4149_98230404318_640214318_2680901_4031979_nThese are the BEFORE shots.

There was about 3,000 people there, so trying to find our friends Greg and Melissa was pretty much impossible.

Hubs, Sis, Bro and I started the race together at 7:45 am.

BOOM! We’re off…

My sister and I stayed together, but the guys booked it!

Sis and I had a good pace. We ran, we walked, then ran some more. I could definitely feel that I did not hydrate enough for this. The sun was already hot and I was drenched in sweat {yucky I know}.

I got this awesome {and by awesome, I mean horrible} pain in my side upper side, it felt like a cramp you’d get as a kid when you’d run because you’re didn’t want to be “IT” in whatever game you were playing. Yeah that kind of pain. But I pushed through it, that wasn’t going to stop me.

Little did we realize, there was two huge steep HILLS in this race, after hill #2, it pretty much felt like we were doing lungs up the thing. I could feel my quads burning, but as soon we hit the top of that hill, I knew the hardest part was done…

Sis and I checked our time, we were going great. Kept on pushing on, and before we knew it, we saw the FINISH Line sign, WOOP!!

The finish line ended inside Minute Maid Ballpark…

img_0166This is a picture of when I was at a game, by see the right lower side? That’s were we came in at.

Going into the Ballpark, there was two huge-o steep hills going DOWN. So you’re running and you’re thinking “Oh Jesus Help Me!! Don’t let me fall!!“

We made it!

And my amazing Husband was standing there waiting for us with two bottle waters! Such a good man!

I grabbed my water and was still moving, the running came to a job, then to a walk and I kept walking. Kind of forgot to hug my husband, but was on a mission to find a seat! My legs were tingling, shaking and felt like they were about to give out.

See what lack of hydration can do to you?

After the race, we found our friends Greg and Melissa, said Hi, grabbed a few more waters and headed out. The line for the food was out of control. I was reading to get home and get into a BATH.

You can tell with the after pictures, that it was HOT…

4149_98230414318_640214318_2680902_4649248_nGot this Cherry face look going on…

4149_98230424318_640214318_2680903_609194_nHubs was soaked, we all were, but his grey shirt shows it more :)

On the way home, I needed some GREEN TEA…

One thing I was bummed about is that I didn’t have the D-Tag, when we signed up, I didn’t realize you had to click RUN and it was automatically set for WALK. Bummer… but I stayed with my sister, and she had the D-TAG, so her official time for the race is pretty much my official time too, here’s what we had:

Chip Time

Gun Time

Diff

Time Back

Pace

44:16.8

45:37.2

1:20.4

23:10.9

14:17/M

Not too shabby. Of course I want to improve and be better each time.

We’re already looking for the NEXT race. :)

I honestly wish we had cooler weather here, because the thought of running in the heat of June, July & August has me a little freaked. But yet, I want to find another SOON! :)

So to let you know what I learned this race:

  • DRINK MORE WATER BEFORE.

So tell me, what did you do this weekend? :)  and do you ever feel during a run, workout, etc, that you need hydration STAT! What do you drink?
