WFMW: Sweet Potato Fries {Recipe}

wfmwbannerKRISTENHello Darlings! It’s Works For Me Wednesday over at We Are That Family, be sure to hope on over and LINK UP with your Best Summer Recipes!

One side dish I absolutely LOVE is Sweet Potato fries with a yummy veggie burger. YUMMY! I found this recipe in my Biggest Loser FAMILY cookbook. 51m41mXFqZL._SL500_

I took two Sweet Potatos…

100_4779

peeled them, chopped them in half and then chopped them into small fry like sizes…

100_4780

then I added some Olive Oil, paprika, black pepper, & sea salt. {The recipe also calls for cayenne and garlic powder, which I didn’t have, but you can add it as well}

I baked them at 425 degrees for 25 minutes. Didn’t want them too crispy…

You can turn the heat up if you want a crispier fry. The fries turned out amazing and I wish I would have taken a picture of them on my plate, but they were just too yummy and I forgot about my camera all together once these babies were ready!

Hi, I’m Lauren and I’m an Ant Killer.

So… we have an ANT problem. More like we’re housing Ants as of late. They are everywhere people, everywhere. I have no idea how these little creeps got into my house, but they’ve messed with the wrong chick.

Introducing my secret weapon!…

100_4785

Bring it on ANTS!

This Ant killer should do the trick… you place the liquid on to a square piece of card board like thing and the ants are attracted to it {omg gives me shivers just thinking about it, ew} and the suckers the DIE!! {can you tell I’m over the ants?}

100_4786

This was after a second of putting the stuff in my kitchen, see the little creepy ant in the left upper corner, yeah bring it on Ant!

Then after a few minutes we have this…

100_4788

Ew ew ew!! It’s an ANT party!! I’ll keep you posted on the Ant drama. :) But enough of these creepies for now…

I decided I wanted some tasty Granola… So I hoped over to my Tube of Mix My Granola… and it was pretty much empty… hmm ants? nope! Husband. :) HE LOVES IT!! So if you decide to order some granola, make sure you have enough for TWO ;)

On another note, the studying has begun for my Wholyfit certification. I need to get a couple books to go along with the course, here’s one that I’m looking for…4146W0949SL._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-click,TopRight,35,-76_AA240_SH20_OU01_

Fitness Professionals’ Guide to Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Human Movement

Anyone ever read it before? I’ve heard its really good and completely necessary for my certification. So I’m on the hunt for it… Amazon may be the cheapest place to get it? but I’m going to look at Barnes & Noble and Boarders too, just in case. I’m not too sure of any other book stores? Hmm, we’ll see.

And on to another random note, I got my Fitness magazine in the mail the other day…

They had a little blurb in there about a Half-Marathon and Marathon that took place in Central Park in New York City this past April. HOW COOL! Check it out here and here. How fun would that be to do a race in New York? :) Hmm maybe next year??? ;)

So tell me, would you ever go run a race in another state other than your own, if so where would you like to go? And if you already have, what state(s) have you been to and what was the race? :)

Weekend Recap: Guest Room, Super Hot, & Movie-Date

Hello Monday, how quickly you’ve arrived.

Hope your weekend was great! Here’s a bit of how mine went…

Saturday Morning, I went to Wholyfit class, had a fantastic workout. I’m pretty excited to announce, I’m getting certified to teach Wholyfit. :) WEE! I should finish the certification class in August!
The rest of the day was spent organizing our spare bedroom, that as of late has been deemed the JUNK room. Poor room. It’s been such a disaster since we’ve moved all my stuff in. Finally, finally we got crackin’ on that room and it’s come together nicely. Saturday was only day 1 of organizing.

That evening, it was still blazing hot out, as you can see…

Stupid hot out. Just stupid.

Hubs and I went to church, saw some good friends, chatted and then decided to head out for dinner and a movie. YEA DATE! We barely ever go to the movie theater. Honestly I have no idea when was the last time we went to the theater. We went to see “The Proposal“.

SUCH A GOOD MOVIE!!! Go see it. It’s funny, it’s cute and it’ll make you go “awww”. :) My husband even liked it, we laughed a lot, definitely a good movie.

Sunday morning, we got up pretty early in order to beat the heat and went to our local park to go on a trail walk. Definitely gets hot out quick here. So we did about 2 miles and then decided to call it quits, we were drenched in sweat {ew, I know}. There was a very sandy part of the trail and my shoes were filled with sand, the last 1/2 mile was crunch-crunch-crunch all the way to the car. :) Good work out though.

The rest of the day was spent working on that ding-dong-dang spare bedroom… BUT!! It’s now looking like a guest room and less junk-filled. :) The left-over junk that was in the dining room has now found a place. The house is looking quite nice.

The afternoon we took a walk, grilled, I made some super awesome sweet potato fries {that I’ll blog about later} and then relaxed the rest of the night. I was pretty sore from Wholyfit on Saturday. Still am. :) I’m tellin’ ya, great workout.

So tell me, how was your weekend? What did you do?

P.s. head over to Chic Runner’s blog and check out her awesome Giveaway!
