Goodbye {Fat Talk}

I saw a commercial for a show called “Intervention”…

and it was about two twin 20-something girls who had an eating disorder, anorexia.

It was absolutely sad.

Even through it was just the clips of the show that I saw, what stood out was how these girls THOUGHT about themselves.

They were beyond thin, emaciated

and yet, they sat in front of the mirror criticting every single inch of their body saying they were FAT.

Talked and talked about how FAT they are.

They obsessed over the scale, thinking that being 89 and 90 pounds meant they were FAT.

I read an article about Jillian Michaels who was quoted saying “Fat Talk is the common habit among women to downgrade or make negative statements about their bodies, (fat talk) affects your attitude, which affects your behavior and your choices and that dictates your reality, so it is damaging you personally, professionally as well as physically”.

This is serious ya’ll…

Why so many women’s views of BODY IMAGE so distorted?

I’ll be honest and admit, I’m guilty of Fat Talk.

“My butt is huge, my hips are too wide, I wish I looked like her and not me.

I used to never, ever engage in Fat Talk when I was actually overweight…

but yet, since I’ve lost weight and continute to lose weight and be healthy, I’ve noticed the Fat Talk has creeped in.

Pretty whacked out don’t you think? I do.

It’s got to end.

It’s damaging. It’s not encouraging, it’s not motivating, it’s harmful.

It ends now.

I saw this video on youtube and thought I’d share it:

So tell me, have you joined in on Fat Talk? And tell me one thing you LOVE about yourself? :)
