Today has been an extremely productive day. I’ve gotten a lot of errands done, including getting my last name changed to my married name! Woo!
The Social Security office was my first stop. I walked in, and tried not to look shocked. It was PACKED. I mean the room was so ding-dong packed that it was standing room only. I wanted to take a picture with my phone, but the sign stating “NO GUNS, NO CAMERAS” kind of gave the clue they wouldn’t approve.
After about an hour and counting they called my number “A31!” a lady yells… I raise my hand and make my way into the cool office, or what I thought of as “the cool club”. Only the coolest of the cool are allowed. Hmm… maybe not, but still I was excited at this point. That whole process took maybe 10 minutes, the nice lady entered all the information in, copied the marriage license, staple staple staple, print and sign and you’re done! Your name is changed! The lady was nice enough to congratulate me and sent me off with a “have a good day!” Very nice experience, minus the wait… there’s some dodgy people waiting in that room.
After I got my golden ticket, I drove over to the DPS office, which thankfully is only about 5 minutes away. Nice and convenient. I get there, and the place wasn’t that packed, score! I will say this, if you’re ever going to the DPS office for anything, PLEASE call ahead or check online for what you need to bring, because seriously, there was a ton of people the “check-in guy” had to tell them to go get such-and-such or we only accept cash or check… and people would growl and leave. I on the other hand have experience in coming to the DPS office {I may have lost my license once… twice… OK leave me alone} so I checked online to make sure I had all my ducks in a row. Even through when I was signing my new last name I wrote “Gies”… then realized and we changed it. Hey I was excited and hungry from lack of lunch.
I was there maybe 15 minutes, not too shabby!
After that headed to the bank to get that change and a few other errands. All and all very productive day and I feel quite accomplished. Ah, love that feeling.
So now it’s official. I’m a Mrs and the whole knows it!

YAY !!! Congrats…. now is even MORE official
Congrats! That’s so exciting. Thanks for recapping the day with us too.. whew, that sounded pretty crazy!
