{Team Giles} 45 Day Challenge

~Friends of Rodney and I told us about a challenge that they made for themselves and had 45 days to do it.~

That challenge is to lose 10% or more of your total body weight.

The prize? $500.00... cash. Score! Ya’ll know my love for shopping and all things that involve such things. :)

So hubs and I talked it over and decided we could totally do this.
We’re up for the 45 day challenge, and considering Rod and I are both very competitive, this will be a battle till the end!

The Challenge stated today and ends May 11th.

We weighed in this morning {omg ya’ll, it made me cringe, darn vacations… using it as more motivation though} and wrote down our weight and the goal to lose to get us at 10% weight loss. BUT if we both reach the goal, its a tie, SO going over that 10% is a must in my book. :)

Hey, I’m up against a good competitor. Rod is a good runner {I want to be, I so want to do a marathon one day}, he used to play football in high school, and when you give the man a goal, he tackles it. {No football pun intended}

However, I can definitely give hubs a run for his money! Give me a challenge? I’m driven, determined, the phrase “No retreat, no surrender” {an awesome motto from my youth pastor as a teen}. That phrase is my mantra, “No retreat, no surrender”. Game ON!

I’m totally excited to see where we’ll be in 45 days. This weekend I headed out to {favorite store} Target and picked up this:
food-013

I’m pretty stoked about it. There’s tons of awesome recipes and also gives you the nutritional facts as well, so I have a clue what I’m getting myself into. There’s perfect dishes for hubs meat-eating ways and great vegetarian options for me. Woo! I’ll let you now how the meals go.

This morning hubs and I headed our separate ways for our workouts, hubs headed to the gym and I went off to Wholyfit. I had a great workout, still feeling score from this weekends workout. I may be crazy, but I love that feeling, don’t you?

So tell me…
Have you ever done a fitness challenge or done something to get ready for an event? {e.g. marathon, wedding, family reunion, etc} Tell me when you did to prepare for your event, what you ate, what results you saw?

  1. Good luck!! I’ve been working out since January and I have lost 7%. It feels great. I would highly recommend couch to 5k if you want to start running (google it!). It’s an easy running program to get you ready for a 5k. Also, do you lift weights? I have seen my body change before my eyes when I started lifting. I have muscles!!

You should get a cheap-o food scale to measure portions. I found a 1 pound scale at HEB for less than $7. I weigh everything…nuts, deli meat, you name it.

    Good luck! :)

  2. I love your challenge with your husband! I can’t wait to follow along and see how both of y’all are doing.

We’re having a Shrink Into Summer challenge at the Sisterhood right now with lots of mini-challenges! The current mini-challenge involve Wii Fit Super Hula! Lots of fun. We’ll start the 30-Day Shred challenge next Monday!

Best of luck to you! I hope you blow him out of the water and enjoy some serious shopping!!

  3. Thanks Chisty! I love the Wii Fit Hula-Hoop game, its by far my favorite! I’ll come check out the challenges :)

  4. Ooo Bonnie those are great ideas. I’ll definitely check out the 5k thing. Rod does have a food scale, I have never attempted to use one (haha) so I’m going to break that sucker out now. I LOVE weights, I hate the during, but I love the after! :) Thanks girls! love the tips!

  5. The best results I see is when I count the calorie intake and compare it to how much calories I’m burning in the gym. [those machines are so cool! they give you a roundabout number of how much you burn]

The overall goal from what I’ve been told is to burn more than you eat, but I’ve seen results from burning at least 50 percent of what I eat, not necessarily *all* of the calories I ate.

  6. P90X …went from 38% body fat to 11% in 3 months…energy increased even got better sleep. Back to my goal size but have a few more inches and pounds to lose…totally recommend it with your new eating plan…the best thing is you don’t have to go to the gym (i hate crowds)

  7. Interesting Onnie, I’ve never heard of it. I’m gonna look it up. GO YOU! I’m proud of you
