{Sigh}
Well, one step forward 5 steps back, and no I’m not talking about some kind of dance. Rodney and I had been working on assembling the wedding invitations all weekend, I was up serious late Sunday night because I really wanted to get every last bit done. Then Monday night, just as Rod’s finishing checking off the list making sure we have everyone on the envelopes, and we’re about to stamp them… I realized, the “Reception Cards” never made it into the envelopes (they were hiding… grrr)… I about fall apart, from panic, exhaustion and the sheer frustration that this just can’t be happening.

In an attempt to find new envelopes to cure the problem, we sadly couldn’t find a replacement. But with the brilliant idea of my loving patient fiancé, we decided to call the place we got the invites from and hoped they could overnight new envelopes to us… I dial…pray…and ask… YES! They can send new envelopes that will be here Wednesday!! YEA!! Thank you Lord! So thankfully, the invitations should be out the door Wednesday and those of you here in town should receive them hopefully by Saturday.
Another minor set-back that honestly just had me mad. We’ve been on the look out for a groom’s cake for Rod, and finding someone who can do a great specialty cake has been a challenge… well you can find them, but they charge you an arm, leg, and anything else they can think of for it. So we thought we found a place, made an appointment with them, and then the lady writes me back asking who is doing my wedding cake (because obviously I’m not asking her to do it, just the grooms cake), I tell her who, an amazing friend of the family who creates beautiful cakes, but not as a full-time business, the lady replies and says that she cannot make the groom’s cake because the person making the wedding cake isn’t “insurance and bonded”…. I could have thrown my phone across the room when I read that, WHAT!? Seriously, what does that mean, so I kindly responded said was sad to hear that, but asked her to explain. Her response was curt and definitely sounded like it was embellished. Fine, you don’t want to make our cake, it wasn’t going to bring you big money, so you made up a lie to get yourself out of the appointment, fine, I get it. But boo on you for being a punk and not saying that first off and making an appointment with us and then you cancel, boo on you! Ugh.
So now the hunt continues for a groom’s cake….

you should post that mean womans business name and let everyone know about her!
I know, I should… but I’m not.. she know’s who she is… and good things don’t come to mean people who ridiculous stress out brides.
That meanie!! Oh well this is a blessing in disguise – it probably would have been gross and made everyone sick, so you’re going to find a much better and more awesome one now.
You dont have to post it. I know who it is…I will have my cousin “Bones” and “Velcro” make her some cement shoes and she will be sleeping with the fishes in no time…
but seriously, why dont you ask Denise’s girlfriend to do it? (was Denise her name? you know the woman at work whose girl made AMAZING cakes…then she left to do bigger and better things but the girl still makes good cakes)
I’m back… i can’t leave you comment less
I’m so very happy you sorted this out with the invites, its unfortunate that you had to deal with someone mean.. if it were me, i’d keep their butts/names all over the cyber world, but you are so very nice! I mean, why does a cake have to be insured and bonded, and what does your main cake have to do with her making the groom’s cake! What a bogus excuse! Sigh…
Ok, since this is my second comment, it came out a bit longer than the last
Lol!
Have a beautiful day, and get some rest!!!
Thanks ya’ll
I love the encouragement…
and Onnie – thanks for having my back
AmyJean – HAHA thanks for coming back. I’m such a dork.
Hey darling! You are doing an amazing job at all of the crazy wedding stuff. I know it can get hairy at times. But you will do amazing things and it will be an amazing wedding! I am so truly excited about it.
As for the cake woman, don’t give her another thought. If i was talented in making cakes like i am in pies i would make it for you. Have you thought of cupcakes? That could be fun, some red velvet cupcakes?
Gosh I hope this wasn’t the lady…

Because she did a graduation cake for me, and I’m totally going to feel like such an idiot if that was the lady and I’m trying to refer her. Hopefully that’s not the lady? Mine was from the Missouri city location specifically.
Anyhow hope the cake hunting goes well!
